Today was my baby's first day of school. It was little mans' very first day of Kindergarten. He was very excited. He came home and enthusiastically told me all about everything he did today...in a few short weeks all that enthusiasm will be gone way to soon when asked "what did you do/learn at school today" the answer will be nothing.
He learned about raccoons today, so me like a good mom, remembered a book about raccoons I'd seen in his room when cleaning, and thought we could read it together, it's called
The Kissing Hand. I couldn't stop crying. I had never read it before, it was so sweet and so perfect.
Today was also DeAnne's first day of school, and it was nice that I got to pick her up from volleyball practice because I don't think I would have gotten to hear about her day otherwise. We had a nice ride home from school and back to Thomas' soccer practice, then I took her back to mom's and then went back to the soccer field.
The SIL and neice and nephew went home today. It was so good to see Dominic (nephew) again- not Allison's kid. Allison (SIL) I could care less if I see, and Julia (niece) don't really know her, but as Allison's kid she is way too much like her mother-unfortunately for her. ;-) We haven't seen Dominic other than briefly when we went up for the wedding in October and when he visited for Thanksgiving 3 years ago. He is my favorite of my nieces and nephews-by far. ;-) Of course his sister is also a favorite. I like their mom the most of my SIL's so it would figure.
Dom stayed with us from the last two days and we were up soooo late and up very early. Hell last night less than 3 hours of sleep. I so need sleep! Off to bed very soon. I'm just glad we have a good relationship with Dom.
We had fun at
Dollywood's Splash Country. I got burned, but that was to be expected. Thomas wanted to ride
this, but I don't see that happening! Of course he barely makes the height requirement anyway. We didn't ride many rides...the adults all hate standing in line; so we stayed in the
Wavepool,
Lazy River,
the Cascades,
the butterfly, and
Soaker Springs...ok, so maybe we did more than I thought. But we spent the majority of the time in the wave pool and lazy river. Ellie (the MIL) got us a
Retreat and we were waited on by a hostess all day, heck they even took our lunch order and brought it to us so we didn't have to stand in line. All in all a nice day, and was even able to avoid SIL most of the day...except when I went back to the retreat...she always seemed to be there.
