As we continue to trudge through this atrocious year it has been really wonderful to have a beautiful autumn. The foliage has been so bright and varied. That is pretty much all my camera roll has photos of since I last wrote. I would say they will be around for another week or so. Hopefully we don't have a repeat of last November. So far it looks like we have some sunny days coming up, we shall see.
Since I last wrote my friend ClareBear and her family came and stayed at the hotel. Her son requested it for his 5th birthday which I loved! We came in to meet them at the brasserie for dinner. It was a really lovely evening and it was so good to spend time with them. But like clockwork within 24 hours my hubby was bedridden with a rotten cold for a week. He has such a weak immune system around small children!
The concierges and I had our monthly cultural outing. We went to a Danish restaurant in the Old Town for lunch. Their smørrebrød ws not as good as the Danish restaurant out in the suburbs but we still enjoyed ourselves. We then walked to the photography museum to see some of the new exhibits. It was crazy mild that day so the walk was really lovely. My favourite exhibit was the photos from the Hubble Telescope. Later in the afternoon I hopped on the bus to head out the inner archipelago to go to a cafe that was having an "American Week". I was hoping to buy bagels but sadly they didn't have any. It wasn't a wasted journey though as their interpretation of a Pumpkin Spice Latte was very good! The really mild weather continued for another week so I made a big effort to get out for some walks. I spent one day walking all around the city with a friend who took the day off. Right at the end of the month I took a day trip out to Norrtälje to meet a friend for lunch. Sadly that day the weather was crap but I still enjoyed getting out of town for a few hours and I liked what I saw of Norrtälje.
The first weekend of October I had off so made sure to make the most of it and spend all my time with the hubby. We did our annual autumn walk out in Nacka. We discovered our new favourite cooking website that we have made a few really delicious things from. We confirmed that we went to go away for Christmas somewhere in Sweden and that the hubby would brew a Christmas beer. All and all a really low key and wonderfully relaxing weekend. I went out for a few more meals here and there with friends. Some highlights were homemade enchilada's my ex work hubby made, really good moose at a new to us Asian restaurant and one of the best pumpkin soups and much more. Food truly does make me happy. As of last Thursday some new restrictions have been announced in Stockholm so we are officially socially distancing again. It makes me very glad I got to spend quality time with a few friends leading up to it. We will order take away from some of our favourite restaurants in the upcoming month and think about what we want to make for a 2 person Thanksgiving.
The week before the announcement I was very lucky to get away for a spontaneous girls weekend with 3 friends. The woman who owns the house 2 hours north of Stockholm messaged me the week before to see if I could join. I couldn't believe I was actually not working that weekend so happily accepted! We got to the house Friday evening and were back in Stockholm just after 2PM on the Sunday. They all have kids so as you can imagine they were all roaring to get away! We spent the weekend mostly just talking. We did on the Saturday go for a big walk at an old iron foundry and popped into a really wonderful skin care and perfume company. I got some really nice bath salts and a new perfume. All and all a weekend we all are not taking for granted.
And well that about gets you up to speed on the life of yours truly.
