So I'm making a Neko Case mix CD for a friend who's never heard her, but likes folk/country stuff. What would you consider necessities in Neko Case 101? I want a good overview.

1) I thought of you last night when I heard "Hold On, Hold On" start up. Maybe I should be a bettin' lady!

(No worries. Of course I accept the recently-invented Flotard Points!)

2) No, I think you're right. I kept thinking it sounded like "with a Valium from the ground" which bothered me because the five-second rule is a myth and one should not get their Valiums that way. I think yours is right, which makes me love Neko even more. Yes, that is possible!

3) I am listening to the song right now, just for you, just to try to decipher. "That echo calls" is what I'm getting out of the first bit, but that's ALL. That's a tough one.

4) I think you and my other Liz (offscreen) have nearly identical tastes in Neko songs, except "Make Your Bed" scares her and she won't even listen to it. My mom wanted me to copy Neko CDs for her at one point, and she said to make sure to include "that song about taking people to the river and killing them, I like it a lot!" Thanks, Mom!

5) I don't understand making a roommate feel unwanted, because I think one's home should be the safest place one has. I think it's screwed me up the past year, because when home isn't an emotionally safe place, what can be? Moving will be so good for both of us.
