So, I'm just talking with Kassy, and after we had trounced the Starcraft AI quite utterly, we came to talk about my topic of choice, i.e. my relationships. Or better said, the lack of them.

Now we planned and decided after some careful deliberation that the best model for my usual course of courtship would be a finite-state machine. As you can see below, this machine supports several distinct paths to one of four different finite states. Sadly, two of these states - "Well, of course I'd like to go out with you" and "Go away and never let your shadow fall upon my face again" - are unreachable; the other two being "I see you just as a friend" and "Meh, it was my fault anyway."

I know that this may not be funny more most of you, or even understandable. However, those of you who read for example xkcd *may* find it funny.
Those of you who *do* find it funny?
You are geeks.

EDIT:I've just been told about errors in the automaton; the edge labels for "I'd like to go out with you" and "Let's stay friends" are on the wrong arrow, each. This will be fixed, promise.

The full-sized automaton is here.

geekery, whining, real life
