The diamond light of my son: brilliant, white, flaring in a moment of smiling eternity--my father's smile leaping through generations. Blinding brightness captures time in a universe of joyful present: a gift of knowing, sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, distilled from memory and ignorance into a golden grace of love. And time moves again. The flaring diamond light banked by the necessities of flesh and bone to a glowing ember of possibility and watchfulness. My son, always in light, moving into darkness, making twilight pools I can follow.
A brother of light to a sister of darkness. A daughter illuminated by pools of flickering candle light: briefly glimpsed shadows describing a life unknown. My daughter shines for another mother in a universe chosen, but not made, by me. A world of time and smiles locked with the key of my choice, lovingly, into a cycle of generations unshared.
