sebaeksoo (brot3) | PG-13 (for swears) | fluff
Sehun and Baekhyun want to cuddle Kyungsoo, but Kyungsoo only wants to cuddle pillows. Action must be taken.
hello yes this is my first attempt at fluff so pls be kind to me. also hooray for tsundere!soo yesyes. this is actually based off of a set of images i remember seeing a long long time ago but i have no idea where they came from or where they are, so i can't link them here ;n;
Everybody had too much of something.
Some people drank too much coffee, others too much wine. Some people smoked too many cigarettes and coughed too often because of it, others swallowed too many pills and could no longer live without them. Some people had too many debts or too many thoughts, too many scars or too many open wounds. Regardless of what that something was, everybody had a little black hole in their lives, greedy and hungry and wanting only to swallow them whole.
Kyungsoo had too many pillows, and every evening Sehun would watch as his friend was sucked into a vortex of cotton and fluff, disappearing completely beneath the layers upon layers of comforters.
"It's like a pillow apocalypse," whispered Sehun from the doorway, watching with horror as Kyungsoo's breathing would cause a gentle rise and fall of the blanket-monster-pile stacked atop him.
"Yeah," agreed Baekhyun, who was peeking over Sehun's shoulder, "Maybe he has some sort of childhood trauma."
"Well," Sehun continued darkly, "This has to be stopped."
"Don't touch me, Byun Baekhyun."
"But-"
"No."
"Kyungsoo-"
"No."
"Not even-"
"Absolutely not."
The eldest of the three stuck his lower lip out in an angry pout, arms stretched open in invitation. In front of him stood a grumpy Kyungsoo, motionless, dead eyes glaring at his friend impatiently.
A moment passed where neither of them moved, until finally Baekhyun reached a tentative hand out, only to be swatted away by the other before he shuffled off, slipping inside his bedroom and kicking the door shut behind him, and leaving a very hurt looking Baekhyun in the kitchen.
Sehun was cackling menacingly at the rejection from the countertop, legs swinging and knocking against granite.
"So cold," muttered Baekhyun, turning to face Sehun's direction, arms still outstretched as he began to waddle his way over, "So heartless," he contorted his face into an exaggerated frown, even faking a sob as he slipped his hands around Sehun's thin waist and pressed his cheek into the other's chest, "So mean."
"I know, hyung, I know," Sehun cooed comfortingly, wrapping his gangly arms around Baekhyun and rubbing circles onto his back.
They pretended to sob together about Kyungsoo's heartlessness for another three minutes before Kyungsoo himself screamed at them to be quiet I am trying to sleep you idiots from his room. They both froze, faces still disfigured into grossly exaggerated crying expressions, before they burst out laughing.
But the issue of Kyungsoo's heartlessness was no laughing matter.
Kyungsoo loved sleep - so much, in fact, that he napped more often than any human really should. He would doze off while reading, while watching a movie, even during conversations sometimes, but he could never properly sleep without hugging a pillow tight to his chest, nuzzling his face in and sighing happily against it.
Kyungsoo loved to cuddle - just not with humans.
This was a terribly concerning issue to both Sehun and Baekhyun, because both Sehun and Baekhyun also loved to cuddle - only they loved to cuddle with people, not pillows.
This was even more of an issue because Kyungsoo was, without a doubt, the most cuddly person in existence. He was small (smaller than Baekhyun even, amazingly enough) and his skin was soft and he had tufts of silky looking raven hair that was always in a mess over his eyes and he even had cuddly hobbies like knitting and was, in essence, something akin to a walking teddy bear.
But he hated cuddling anything that wasn't a pillow, and much to their dismay, neither Sehun nor Baekhyun were pillows.
Stubbornly they would try to ambush their grumpy friend anyway, trapping him by using Sehun's height to their advantage and Baekhyun's undying drive to be as annoying as possible, but they were always met with swatting and kicking and violence of every variety, and in the end Sehun was too clumsy and Baekhyun was too useless (the brains of the operation, he would say in defense) and Kyungsoo would scramble away, prancing right out of their aggressively affectionate arms.
Lately Kyungsoo had been keeping a hefty stick at his bedside to ward them off with, and they each (mostly Baekhyun) had countless bruises to prove its effectiveness.
"Maybe we should have an intervention."
"An intervention? Because he likes pillows more than us?" Baekhyun scoffed between a mouthful of nachos, shaking his head a bit before digging out another handful from the bowl in his lap.
Sehun frowned, eyebrows creasing together, "You really think he likes pillows more than us?"
"Who's getting all the cuddling action, us or the pillows?"
"Yeah," Sehun muttered, "Good point."
There was a sorrow-filled stretch of silence, accented only with the crunching of nachos being eating.
Then Baekhyun tossed his arms up in frustration and wailed, "It's his fault for being so cute!"
"Yeah!"
"If he was uglier nobody would even want to touch him, probably!"
"Exactly!"
"But, like, what is his problem, even?!""Who knows..."
"I mean, I'm fucking cute, right? People want to hug me!"
"Yeah, me too!"
"Yeah-- wait, uh, well..."
Baekhyun's laughing was muffled by the pillow Sehun shoved in his face, the bowl of nachos toppling over onto the floor with the struggle. Upon hearing the clatter of plastic hitting wood they both paused, Baekhyun squashed against the cushions with Sehun's palm smooshing his cheek, and they both looked down at the floor and cringed a bit. Kyungsoo would come after them with the stick for that.
And yet, despite the very real threat, they were both too lazy to do anything proper about the mess, so while Baekhyun gathered the bowl and padded away to put it in the kitchen, Sehun kicked the littered nachos under the couch to hide them.
Once they'd settled again, the pressing matter of why on earth Kyungsoo refused to show them love was readdressed.
"Maybe he really is heartless," Sehun whispered darkly, squinting in the general direction of Kyungsoo's - empty, since he was at work - room.
"It's those stupid pillows," whined Baekhyun, tossing his head back and pouting, "If he didn't have so fucking many maybe he would see me for the lovable, irresistibly adorable, perfect-for-cuddling person I am."
Sehun snorted loudly, rolling his eyes, only to pause, face halfway through a bitch please expression.
"What?"
"What if... He really didn't have so many pillows. Or any."
"He'd think of new ways to abuse us to deal with sleep deprivation?"
"Or," Sehun said with a wide, evil smile, "He'd have to cuddle with us to fall asleep."
"Oh... Ohhhhh."
Their plan was divided into three phases.
Phase one was to get Kyungsoo out of the apartment, however since they were both too lazy to bother with getting him to leave on purpose, they instead just waited for him to go to work the next day. Phase one complete.
Phase two was to demolish the enemy (the pillows).
So they crept with careful footsteps - despite the apartment being empty aside from themselves - towards Kyungsoo's room after he'd left, creaking the door open and poking their heads inside. And there the enemy lay, scattered in something they'd come to call an orderly chaos (a feat only capable of being achieved by Do Kyungsoo), all across the blankets and sheets.
They hesitated for a heartbeat, then launched their assault on the unsuspecting bed.
Armed with scissors and fueled by the need for cuddles, they ripped apart every pillow in sight, snipping at seams and shredding through cotton. Strips of fabric and botches of feathers littered the bedroom floor, and their villainous laughter echoed through the rest of the apartment.
Hopelessly enamored with their mission, the pair didn't even notice the front door opening, or the call of a "Got off work early today!", or the approaching footsteps. They only realized Kyungsoo was there at all when he had opened the door to his room and stood, wide eyed and opened mouthed, staring at Baekhyun and Sehun, who were kneeling on his bed with a sea of pillow remains around them.
Kyungsoo's gaze fell from their shocked faces down into Sehun's hands, where he clutched the final surviving pillow. Sehun and Baekhyun's gazes followed. There was a moment of frozen tension.
Then Kyungsoo darted forward and made a grab for the pillow, latching onto a corner before either of the other two could flinch away. They wrestled for it, fought bravely, all flailing and swearing and hands and (Kyungsoo's) teeth, until Baekhyun tackled Kyungsoo to the bedroom floor and screeched, "Do it, Sehun! It's the last one!"
There was a squawk of desperate protest from the floor where Kyungsoo was being held down and wrestled with, until a loud shredding sound echoed through the room, and everyone stilled.
Sehun stood on the bed, panting, with the final pillow, now ripped in two, in his hands.
"Ha! Now you have no choice but to cuddle me!" Sehun cackled delightedly, pointing an accusing finger at a scowling Kyungsoo.
"Cuddle us!" corrected Baekhyun while he threw a lump of feathers in Sehun's direction, no less discouraged when the feathers floated peacefully to the floor instead of smacking the other in the face.
In the midst of their celebration, Kyungsoo made a sound that was somewhere between a whimper and a sigh.
"If you don't stop moving," there was a kick to Sehun's leg, "And you don't stop making noise," there was a slap on Baekhyun's wrist, "I'm going to go to the superstore right now with both of your wallets to buy more pillows, I swear-"
"No!" they both shrieked in unison, Baekhyun yanking Kyungsoo's head to his chest and Sehun throwing both his arm and legs over Kyungsoo's body.
Kyungsoo sighed, rolled his eyes, and tried to make himself comfortable.
Baekhyun's slender fingers had started stroking through his hair, while the boy's other hand trailed absentmindedly up and down the nape of his neck. Sehun, meanwhile, was pressing his forehead between Kyungsoo's shoulder blades, sighing contently as he nuzzled, effectively trapping the older by - shamelessly - spooning him. It didn't take long for him to be lulled to sleep, the rhythm of Baekhyun's heartbeat in his ear and Sehun's breath against his spine more soothing than the silence of cotton and feathers, and a gentle smile pulled at his lips as he dozed off. Baekhyun shifted one of his hands away from Kyungsoo eventually, finding Sehun's fingers and weaving his own into the gaps, and Sehun poked his head up from behind Kyungsoo's shoulder to smile at him, bright and triumphant. They, too, eventually dozed off, all snuggling closer together in a great lump, and when Kyungsoo woke - before his two friends - he thought that maybe he wouldn't need pillows to sleep with anymore.
Maybe he had had too many of them when he really hadn't needed any.
