LOOK AT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY FEELINGS ON COMICS THIS WEEK. LOOK AT THEM RIGHT THERE. I felt a little guilty for ultimately enjoying Demon Knights more than I did Batwoman, and I couldn't really understand why, but I think you're right. It did feel like a set-up issue, plus there was all that time between the preview we got on Batwoman #0, the previews online, etc, so whatever punch it could've packed came in tiny homeopathic doses lol. The Plebe bit did have me laughing out loud, though.
PROTECTOR OF BABIES. Oh my god, Helena would never live that name down if the Birds ever got a hold of it. Except I picture it eventually turning into uncomfortable "and where are your children than you can laugh at my babies, Dinah?" conversation.
Speaking of the Birds, the more I read of this reboot, the more obvious it is that the changes were really arbitrary and ridiculous. I mean, I sort of suspected they would be, but I also thought there'd be some consistency. Right now it just feels like whatever the writer wanted to keep was okay, provided DC didn't hate that book to begin with/the character wasn't a woman. lol
There were parts of Demon Knights that felt straight out of Legend of the Seeker. How could I possibly resist? \0/
Demon Knights also had the advantage of being an absolutely new book with zero baggage of expectations, whereas we've been waiting for Batwoman for AGES. And it will be hard to top Elegy, no matter what. Still, it's good to have Kate back and kicking arse straightaway - the new villain is interesting, and Bette is destined to be a fun sidekick, I just know it.
Helena and babies always gives me so many feelings. <3 I'm not sure about Dinah's babies in the DCnU, though. What's her history with Ollie here? Did she still raise his kids? Connor and Mia seem to have disappeared outright.
