once a hero

Hee, I was talking about a live-action Gotham Central yesterday, so of course Fringe had to go and do a Gotham Central this week, with an extra special helping of ♥OLIVIA DUNHAM♥. I do not how they manage to get better with every episode, but they just do.

Also. John Noble is scarier than Voldemort.

'The Candy Man' with a Death-Eater mask - you cannot tell me he wasn't a comic-book villain, a 'costumed freak', to quote Gotham Central. That's my theory and you can't take that away from me. ♥

OLIVIA!!!!!!!!!! SHE WAS HERSELF, ALL THROUGHOUT, NOT EVEN PRETENDING TO DRAW BACK AND BE ALTLIVIA. And of course she pressed on when Lincoln and Charlie wouldn't have, because Olivia cares about people, it's more than just a job to her - she lives and breathes this, she really does want to help. It's why she's a hero, in the truest sense of the term:

SCARLIE: All I'm saying is that these cops don’t need us to work their cases, okay. Waste of manpower.
OLIVIA: It's not a waste.

It's never a waste where Olivia is concerned.

And then she made the connections no one else did, and got Broyles to do what she wanted, as always, even in another universe. I absolutely loved what they did with her and Broyles this season. If Olivia had asked the same thing of Broyles over here, he wouldn't have batted an eyelash, because their working relationship sort of progressed like this:

OLIVIA: I want X, Y, Z, and a pony. For solving a case. It's very important.
EARLY S1 BROYLES: WUT? NO! YOU CANNOT HAZ!
LATE S1 BROYLES: I... well... okay, if you insist.
POST-S1 BROYLES: Would you also like a custom Batmobile and a lifetime supply of
Batarangs to go with that? Allow me to order it from Massive Dynamic.

BUT SHE WON HIM OVER! ♥ Because yes, she's brilliant with children, always has been, and she actually cares, which makes so much difference.

I SQUEED when he let her go. I knew he would. Broyles is Broyles in every universe, and even if he's worried about his Olivia - he has been practically nagging Walternate about her, because I think he's beginning to suspect that it was a one way ticket - he can't help but appreciate the other one too.

I was so, so happy to see Henry back. I hope we'll see him again in the Altverse. And THE END!!!!!!!!!!! OMG. There was that extraordinary shot with Olivia on the boat and the Statue of Liberty, and Olivia diving into the water, on her way home - it honestly made me tear up a little. SHE IS SO BRAVE. What will Walternate do to her now? John Noble's expression, man. *shivers*

Poor Altlivia. Now that she's about to be PWNed, I've really warmed up to her. She's Walternate's pawn, stuck in an alternate universe with no way back home, and things are about to get worse. And she was enjoying Casablanca so much, too, even if she thought it had Ronald Reagan in it.
