Dan moved from Jackson Heights in Queens to Park Slope Brooklyn on Wednesday. Normally rain is the bane of a moving day, but it was so hot and muggy that the cool summer rain was actually quite refreshing. His new place is really nice, and I think that I'll be spending quite a bit of time in his neighborhood now.

When clearing out Dan's apartment, we found my boom that I had brought over for the first shoot of The Early Mixes. This was not a manufactured boom but rather one that I improvised myself out of a metal rod and a clamp. We never ended up using it, preferring instead to keep the microphone on a stand, which actually ended up being much more advantageous when cutting together the footage. I was nevertheless going to take the boom home with me when I left Dan's.

I picked up the boom and was holding it like a spear, when lightning flashed. I thought, "Ah, dramatic backlighting!" while Dan's girlfriend Melissa thought "Josh is going to go outside in a thunderstorm holding a lightning rod." I may very well owe my life to her right now!

I am currently hoping that the weather clears up in time for the New York Mets/Arizona Diamondbacks game at CitiField tonight!
