This sort of thing annoys me because translations are such a tricky business... there is no question that Ingrid Eng's subtitles are the superior version, did they just not want to pay royalties to her or something?
I think that it is also odd that the Blu-ray would default to the English dubbed track... I have to say that while these subtitles are not as good as the others, they are better than what I heard of the dub job. Yech.
I will have more to say about Let the Right One In shortly.¹ I don't know if it really does qualify as the best vampire movie ever, as the jacket copy proudly states, but it's up there.
Never having worked at a supermarket, I don't really understand their internal politics. Hopefully, a supermarket veteran could explain to me why they would put their slowest cashier on the express lane? I mean, just from a common sense perspective, isn't that the job you give to the guy with the coke problem?
