Michael Kamen's main theme from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, specifically the overture, fittingly became the signature music for Morgan Creek Productions. It is the first thing one hears in their films and on their incomplete website.
I'm aware that movie studios no longer have the sort of "name brand" recognition they once did, it would still seem a bit strange to me to hear one studio's logo music in another studio's ads. And yet this is exactly what has happened; Disney is using Kamen's Robin Hood - the exact same track - in the promo ads that appear on their DVD and Blu-ray releases. What's really bizarre about this to me is not only that they had to license the music from the very studio whose logo music it is, but that there would have been many 'in-house' choices for Disney to have used that would have had the same sweep of adventure without the association or licensing fees (they could have used Kamen's own The Three Musketeers for heaven's sake).
