Mastered at the wrong speed? That's tough to do with digital media. Or was it resampled or something, pulling all the frequencies out of whack? And playback issues? The link is apparently to a locked or deleted post.

Finding the Indiana Jones Soundtracks Collection in my mailbox when I got home had the potential to brighten my evening, but one minute, twelve seconds into the first song of the first disc, my computer forgot it had an optical drive. I was livid. I flipped over to OSX and started ripping the discs, so I could tar them up and scp them over. My 10,000 rpm drive just doesn't do it for me anymore. I think I'll turn it into a 36GB swap drive on my next computer.
Then OSX magically unmounted Last Crusade in the middle of its import. WTF? I'm beginning to question the quality of these discs, as twice - on two different operating systems is a little more than coincidence.
All of the original Indiana Jones (including Last Crusade) scores were originally analog recordings. The new discs are the results of brand new transfers made from the original elements, and so a minor misadjustment in speed could easily have caused this to happen.
You can see and hear the discrepancies in this comparison between the DCC disc (which is at the correct speed) and the Concord:
While this is a very minor difference, it nevertheless causes the Raiders tracks to sound a bit overbright. The creator of this demo mentioned that the two tracks were of comparable volume and that the discrepancy in the wave forms used in the illustrated was something he had done, not endemic to the disc itself.
