Can't sleep and bored...
I will start off by congratulating George Takei on his recent wedding to Brad Altman. It think it is rather fitting that Walter Koenig was his best man.
I have been working on my new Sergio Leone/Ennio Morricone compilation, a replacement for Gun and Sun that takes advantage of the myriad of remasters and expansions of all but one of the represented scores that have been released since I created that disc over three years ago. Each of these scores is unique, and I wanted to present them in a somewhat more balanced manner than I did originally. The existence of previously unreleased tracks also allowed me to reconceptualize the album a bit; the new edition has many similarities to the old but I think it flows a bit better. I won't know until I can listen to it a few more times (the demise of The Bronze Mist precludes a proper "car test") but I expect any changes, if any, to be minor at best.
The odd score out is the one for For a Few Dollars More, and it seems that the original tracks are destroyed. GDM put out a release a few years ago with extra tracks, but they were culled from the film's audio track and therefore have sound effects (no thanks), and apparently their noise reduction processing of the pre-existing album tracks left something to be desired, so I never bothered to pick up that disc, which now commands quite a hefty price on eBay.
The disc is being retitled The Vice of Killing (The Ecstasy of Gold was also under consideration, but that makes too many people think about Metallica these days). I have already completed the cover art. I am planning to make a companion piece to this disc focusing on Morricone's music for the Westerns of Sergio Corbucci.And yoinked from revelos55:
