Mine Holidays

So here's what happened:
I started with a trip to Berkeley to visit my friend Rosa. We had the usual drinkfest, although it was definitely not as hardcore as the last time I saw her (yegads there's no way my liver is going to survive taking her around Chitown). I got to meet some of her other friends, which was very nice.
After a couple days of that, she left and I carted myself to mountainview to visit Eliza. Also buckets of fun. I got to meet her family (minus her sister), which was lots of fun. Apparently my ability to play Beatmania garnered me some gamer cred with her totally hip brother, and her parental units were hilarious. It was simultaneously the most frightening and amusing thing to watch.
We ate this Chinese noodle dish called tsa ma mien or something like that, which is apparently what jjamppong is based on. This version was way, way better; I think it's the pork that does it. We also ate mexican food in the mission district in SF and had even more Chinese food than you can shake a stick at. And it was all super super delicious. Thank goodness for hanging out with friends with Chinese moms.
We also visited this odd Japanese estate garden type deal. It was slightly reminiscent of an extremely tiny kinkakuji, except it was so freaking cold that I kinda wanted to die.
Then I got back to LA and pretty much immediately hung out with theivyscribe and powerleca. We went and saw Slumdog Millionaire (what an awesome movie) and had dinner together. Then we got ice cream. I also hung out with Rosa again, this time with Soo and Sergio in tow. We got margaritas at Chili's, beer at a sports bar, another at Q's, and karaoke.
Christmas day was spent at my second cousin's house. It was a pretty good affair, and I watched the first several episodes of the first and last Korean drama that I will probably ever enjoy. It was already starting to get pretty bad around the later episodes, though.
New years eve was spent with again, theivyscribe and powerleca, but also several other Dartmouth folk, including our very own Cissy! It was so good seeing her again! Oh, and remember that dress? That red dress? Yeah, it came back.
New years was spent with the folks and grandma and grandpa, and now I'm getting packed up to go.
A lot of time spent with the folks, a good amount with friends old and new, and I somehow managed to pick up another beatmania controller. Not too bad.
After all that was done,
