Character Death... Uh, sorta, does it count if it's in a dream?
The nightmare starts the same as always, she’s in the hotel where they were staying yet again and it is June the tenth…
Eight days before her twelfth birthday.
Her parents are mad at her she knows; she gave another bad reading to a man last night and lost them some precious money… Her mother doesn’t even look at her when she asks to go out, her father looks at her but doesn’t hug her… Beth does but it is still slightly less enthusiastic then it usually is… They are all disappointed in her.
She is disappointed but doesn’t let it get to her, if she disappears for a few hours longer then she told her mother when she comes back they’ll all be frantic with worry and all will be forgiven.
But in this nightmare she knows, knows that this is the last time she’ll ever see her parents or sister, knows that they spent years looking for her and found nothing.
And she wants to scream, turn around and throw herself back into her room, cling to her parents… Anything.
But that never works; she always walks out of the door without a backward glance and down to the park… Down to the portal which drags her in, kicking and screaming… And then she dies, be it by giant spiders, a horrible tree or even an old man with a simple knife.
It isn’t like life.
She wakes up crying, glances over at Beranabus and then turns to the wall, letting her tears dry.
She wishes the Nightmare had come true.
