The battle is over, everything has been saved and there have been tragedies but there always are, at least the world is still okay.
That doesn’t change the fact that Kernel’s lost his eyes though, or that Grubbs has lost his brother… The guy she’s secretly in love with and the guy she already sees as a little brother, doesn’t the universe just love anything relating to her.
“You alright?” She mutters softly, flopping next to Kernel.
He sighs, not looking at her “apart from the horrific pain?”
Nadia bits her lip “I’m sorry, I should’ve…”
“Don’t worry, it’s definitely not your fault… Are you alright?.”
“O-“ and then it happens, a vision.
Kernel kisses Grubbs or Grubbs kisses Kernel, Kernel winds his hand through Grubbs’s hair, they’re laughing.
They separate for a moment.
“Does Nadia know?”
“No, nobody does.”
And then they kiss again.
“Nadia? Nadia?”
“No” she murmurs softly, mind still on the vision.
“…Are you okay?”
She looks back at him, sees properly where his sightless eyes were fixed (Grubbs) and forces a smile “of course I am… Excuse me, I have to see Beranabus.”
And she flees.
So this is how a heart breaks, from a stupid vision… Shattering your world.
