5. "We're not laughing at you - we're laughing near you."

Meera’s mouth is bruised (well, at least it’s no longer bleeding) and her hair feels terribly dirty and underneath all of her frustration at those things there is a terrible kind of satisfaction.

She swears it started with no intention to get to this stage, a walk in the forest (Dervish planned, of course) led to yelling, led to their first actual first fight, led to a hard brutal kiss and a shove up against a tree… And then the obvious conclusion.

She feels guilt because of Dervish (he loves Juni, she doesn’t know what he sees in the fake tramp but he does love her anyway) but satisfaction, because Juni isn’t the innocent little angel that she pretends to be… And, okay, maybe the tree slamming bits were extremely enjoyable but she isn’t thinking about that or about how the curve of Juni’s hip looks in the sunset.

Speaking of Juni… The woman is still there, leaning against a tree (but not that tree) and looking pensively off into the distance.

Meera scowls and marches over “We’re never doing that again.”

“Of course not” Juni mutters, not sounding like she’s completely listening to Meera’s words.

“I mean it, you’ll be lucky if I don’t tell-“

“If you tell Dervish” Juni interrupts with a smirk “he probably won’t believe you and even if he does believe you… He’ll never speak to you again.”

Meera gapes for a second, shuts her mouth and then glares “You’re a manipulative cow, you know that?”

Juni laughs at that and swings away from the tree, turning in the direction of the house “Oh, spot on Miss Flame, spot on.”

Meera can only grit her teeth and follow.
