So I'm updating from one of the computers in the S.F. State library. I haven't set up internet or phone in my apartment yet. Yesterday, my mom, brother and I cleaned up what we had left from pulling up the carpet, and fixed up my room so that it's livable. We assembled the shelving unit I got at ikea, hung curtains, set up bed and bookshelf, and swept and mopped. We didn't leave the city until 7 30 or so, but working on it all day was totally worth it. I unpacked most of my boxes and put everything away, so it feels much more like home.
I went grocery shopping after dinner at my parents' house, and then my brother and I drove into the city, for my first night in my new place.
It was sort of weird...I listened to music while putting away groceries and unpacking plates and such, and kept my windows open to let in the breeze. Fog rolled in outside, and it was actually cold, which was lovely. Once everything was in its place, I got into bed, and just listened to outside noises while trying to fall asleep, which took hours. I guess it was excitement that kept me up; it still hasn't sunk in that I've moved out of my parents' house, and I'm living on my own.
This morning I braved the new kitchen and burned my fingers on the burner, but I managed to successfully make breakfast. After eating I did the washing up and caught the bus outside my house to come here. I'm meeting Mike in a little while, and I have books and school supplies to buy, and I'm dying for a little tea.
Anyway, I suppose that's all for now..there are people in line to use the computers, glaring at no one in particular. More as soon as I can manage it. I really do want to try to keep a record of this part of my life.

Oh, I'll also post pictures of it all sometime soon...but probably not until I get internet set up in my room.
