PRINCESS Lothiriel

COMMON AGE

Lothiriel belongs to the race of Men, yet with Numenorian and Elvish blood in her bloodline, her family line has been long lived and, barring injury or illness, she is expected to live quite long as well. She can read, write, and speak Elvish, play the harp, and can steer a small boat (as all in her seaside city can). She can ride a horse, not spectacularly, but well enough not to fall off. She was trained with bow and arrow and swordplay as there were fears the War would spread to their shore, and while she can handle the bow well enough, she is terrible with the sword.

Lothiriel has long, black hair and green gray eyes, very fair skin, and is tall and slim. The Elvish blood that has passed through the line of Princes of Dol Amroth has resulted in many, including her father, being called "the Fair," meaning attractive, and Lothiriel is no exception.

personality

As a Lady of Gondor, she can seem quite reserved and polite at first, but on closer aquaintance, she shows a more playful side. She enjoys gentle teasing, but overall has a kind heart and a happy disposition. She can become frustrated easily, but she allows it to build up inside her while she tries to appear fine outwardly. This can lead to an outburst of either yelling, tears, or both, but this isn't a common occurence.

history

Lothiriel was born in 2999 of the Third Age, the youngest child and only daughter of Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth, on the peninsula on the Bay of Belfalas in Gondor. Her mother died when she was still a young child, and her father and three elder brothers became very protective of her. She did not turn into a tomboy due to the lack of a mother's influence, however. She had a governess and learned everything a young lady of the court should know, such as dancing, embroidery, music, and the Elvish language.

Living by the sea had a great influence on her. She would often watch the ships leaving port from the wall running around the castle garden, and she would make up stories about who the people onboard were and where they were going. This gave her a longing to see new places much different from her home, but unfortunately she had little opportunity to do so. She and her family visited Minas Tirith often, however, as Imrahil's late sister, Finduilas has married the Steward, Denethor. Lothiriel adored her cousins Boromir and Faramir, though they were far older than she. Faramir especially was kind in the fact that whenever he was in the City, he made time to play with her, and this resulted in her considering Faramir to be like another brother to her.

As the Shadow in Mordor grew and orcs began gathering in mass again, the trips to Minas Tirith stopped and Lothiriel was not allowed to leave Dol Amroth. When Minas Tirith needed aid from the rest of Gondor, her father set out with her two younger brothers, his Swan Knights of Dol Amroth, and 700 men at arms to defend the city, leaving Lothiriel and her eldest brother behind. Once Sauron was defeated, she and her brother were sent for to join in the celebrations in Minas Tirith and witness the coronation of King Elessar. It was here that she met Eomer, King of Rohan, whom she would later wed and bear a son, Elfwine.
