I watched the Plastic Ono band episode of Classic Albums today. Yoko is my new style icon, can I just say that right now.
Case in point:
Dig the pantsuit
Her shades and floaty 70s hair so ftw, here:
Shades again, and this hat needs to be mine:
Her hat, amazing belt..and pretty sure those are high waisted shorts:
Hat again! Also, I'm digging the necklace:
Seriously, I need a white minidress now:
The high waisted short shorts! Gah!
Ok, the short shorts WITH the boots...this needs to be replicated by me (lol, not the boobie grab, but the...well you get it.)
Style points I have learned from her Yokoness: Floppy hats ahoy, amazing shades, the high waisted shorts!, killer boots...as well as what she wore in the clips I couldn't find online, such as wearing TIGHTS under her short shorts (amazing), and also an artillery rounds belt...and the olive drab military shirt is a classic.
I have a feeling John Lennon would have hated me. Ha, because we both claim to be artists. Then again, Yoko was an artist...a strange, strange artist.
Being a philosopher would be the best job ever. I think to a point that role has transformed into different areas, from the Greek philosophers, to the 19th century writers and wits, to the poets, to now the rockstars. I think I've sort of grown up to that idea. For a while, I was stuck on classic literature, then novels, and so on and so forth, progressing on from the beginning of the intelligencia to the modern thinkers. I've already decided that I can't really associate with people that aren't earth shakers. Not in the Poseidon sort of way, but in that we want to change the world. Believing that there is some meaning, some purpose, some betterment that we can contribute to society. I have compiled a list of roles that do that, ha, more for finding type of guy I'll find myself with for the rest of my life than anything else. Who else out there really even *thinks*? When you're given as much time to do whatever you want and the only thing asked of you is to pen something, you'll end up with some deep stuff. Hence, my association with rocker types.
I was listening to some
audio clips of Timothy Leary. (whoot!) It sort of insulted me when he said he'd be taking his "sermon" from the text of Bob Dylan's "Maggie's Farm". >.< How many times do you have to fall before you see that Bob's not a god, but a man? There is no guru in rock and roll. John Lennon is not your spiritual leader. He went to therapy to deal with his issues, man. I'm sick of people attributing more to these guys who are simply human.
My quotes of the day on my google homepage always make me happy...or at least guffaw.
"If the human mind was simple enough to understand, we'd be too simple to understand it."
-
Emerson Pugh(A common thought for me, trufax. It helps me cope with the fact that some things are just too big or lofty to understand.)
"All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them."
-
Galileo Galilei(Exactly the mindset I had about everything as a kid. People'd talk about calculus? I'd say, well with proper teaching, no prob!)
"An intellectual is a person who has discovered something more interesting than sex."
-
Aldous Huxley(Haha! True in some ways.)
EDIT (at 3:24 am): I went to see Wall-E at midnight with some friends. It was endearingly cute...well, a kids movie. It made everyone in the theater audibly aww and laugh. The beginning short was cute and lol-ful as well. So yeah, in the same vein as the past Pixars. I did like the whole sarcastic point about mankind becoming fat and lazy in the future though. That probably made me laugh the most. :P
Also, after we pulled out of the parking lot, my friend apparently squealed his tire as he sped up to enter the on-ramp. So, later down the freeway, we see red and blue lights coming from behind. We got pulled over. All four of us carpooled and it was just...it was really awkward sitting and waiting there. He ended up getting a ticket for an "unsafe start". o.O? His car's a fixer upper anyways, plus he took auto shop last year and *knows* his tires squeal when they take a left turn... He'll get out of it, I'm sure. But still, getting pulled over by the police is not cool.
