My life quote could easily be "We are not amused." Culture...or the dregs that remain of it, is lacking so much creativity. I know I may be asking a lot, but can we at least use our heads and concoct some original design? Maybe it's my stalking
foto_decadent and
jr__nal that have made me realize the pitifulness of "creativity". I am my own worst fear: pretentiousness.

This, however, is a testament to the struggles of a creative spirit. These are all hand painted by Henry Smith from 1946 to about 1957. He was a musician and had no experience in making film...so he just went ahead and made one. Amazing.
Another thing that's inspiring me right now is Werner Herzog. He's a German director. He's so brutally tough, makes good films, and has awesome life lessons to say. For instance:

"It was an insignificant bullet." Seriously... I like his sentiment that gets cut off a bit at the end there, about how we need to pull back and think about violence. You know, not just have a knee-jerk reaction. I watched a video of him eating his shoe a little earlier. He made a bet with a fledgling filmmaker to go ahead and finish a film already and he'd eat his shoe if the guy did. :P He made the film, and now there's a film about Herzog eating his shoe. It's
*here*, if you'd so like to watch. It's intertwined with some great interviews with him too. This is what I get for talking to a big Herzog fan for too long. :P
Yet another thing that inspires me is the new Sigur Ros single "Gobbledigook" and its music video. It's like the garden of eden celebration of life or something. You can listen/stream the album and watch the vid *
here*, if'n you'd like.
I guess there are more inspiring things around me than I thought. It helps to look around every so often.
I watched "Idiocracy" last night. It's a pretty amusing movie. I fail to see how it couldn't really even make it to theatres, yet Zohan is a big hit. >.< Idiocracy only came out last year. Oh, and I'm watching "Nosferatu" online right now. It's the silent film from the 20s about Dracula. Tres bien! It's fantastic how much they say through the music. I'll keep it in mind when I study music in college. Maybe there's a good paper to write about that, eh?
I have stacked up a pile of badly opened envelopes (I swear I'm going to buy myself a letter opener knife, party for self-defence partly because I'm horrid at opening envelopes neatly) all containing cards and money. I really ought to graduate more often. A whole schlew of relatives are piling into town in the next few days too. You see, I do have family drama, but I'll just say reading blogs and LJs makes me uberly grateful for my family the way it is. I get my calm, English literature, don't talk so loud, international, nomadic-ness from my mom's side and my music talents, loudness, spontaneousness, public speaking voice, and stage talent-ness from my dad's side. You see where the clash is? My mom hates the din of my dad's side. She usually gets a headache just thinking about hosting them. Thankfully for her, they mostly live in Nebraska. My brother and I, however much we do enjoy peace, also enjoy the karaoke and boogieing. I just hope there won't be that much drama when both sides travel out here.
I'm still crazy dizzy. At least I can get some food down. You know when you get light headed when you get up too fast sometimes? Yeah, it's like that perpetually. And there's some weird disconnect between my head and my eyes. I'm nearsighted anyways, so this is just not cool, man.
