Christmas...always something to think about

Dec 24, 2007 17:17

Really...nothing new has gone down. And still, I'm updating. It's Christmas eve and I slept in till noon, dreaming about how I'll describe my musical influences when I'm in college explaining to my composition teacher and how well-rounded and awesome I'll be. Then, I got up and went to Red Robin with my family for lunch. After, I watched some Led Zeppelin concerts that I taped from Vh1 Classic. Gotta love them. *SO* amazing!

I was thinking about how insanely decadent America has become. Even our family pictures will be so grotesque with the "too much food" "too many video games" "not enough activity" written over our faces, just in our sizes and glazed eyes. Haha, well, it honestly makes me want to run away. But nothing's ever that simple. It's insane, really. And trying to think of a solution has been interesting. I mean, you want to start a revolution? Look at the French Revolution, look at the 60s' hoards and hoards of "revolutions"... somehow I don't think it'll truly permeate the surface. You want to take away from people the thing that's sustaining it and they'll christen you mad. Then comes the next point of "too much of a good thing" or going without because that's what's best for you. Can we even go that far? "oh I can't excersize because I'm lazy" Well, I just don't know what to say. When we've gotten to the point that you simply *must* get what you want, we lose the character we should have gained by going without.

It's kindof hard to believe that tomorrow's Christmas. It has snuck up on me fast. So, oddly enough, I'm not so much in the "Christmas" spirit, or whatever. Well, I think it's the fact that you see more of the commercialism when you get older, so Christmas "loses the magic". It's the best holiday season when you really reflect on the history, traditions, and simplicity of it all. It's not just some thing to help you get through your winter doldrums. :P People have been celebrating holidays for years and years and years. My connection to them through this is just part of the magic. And of course, for religious reasons, having the Church always setting aside a time to celebrate and we get to join in with those saints from forever ago. People fascinate me. ^^ Plus, it helps take the focus off of yourself, you know?

I wanted, though, to take the chance to wish all of you a truly awesome Christmas with good times and good company. ^^
