SciFi Show: 'Shiner Station'

Sep 18, 2010 13:21

A random thing made for a challenge at scifiland in which we had to create our own scifi show. Of course, I include Ben Browder. Wouldn't you? And since I'm horrible at coming up with names, it's named after the beer I was drinking at the time. ;)

Capitol Records© is one of the few entertainment giants to survive into the 23rd century. One office is based out of a space station midway between here and everywhere else. The best acts available in the colonized area of space come out of Shiner Station, it's like Hollywood for rock stars in space.

Under all the glitz and glamour surrounding the stars and wannabe stars lies a layer of deceit and distrust that can often lead to murder and mayhem. Not to mention the drama of negotiating an alien contract for back up singers when their planet just made the news because of a military coup.

It's a cross-genre show which combines elements of a murder mystery with a touch of a space opera drama and infuses the whole thing with rock 'n roll.

Elroy 'Mac' MacKenzie (Ben Browder)

Elroy MacKenzie, or 'Mac' as everyone call him, is a talent agent for Capitol Records©. Prior to landing a job in this lucrative career, Mac was an agent for the Homeworld Security Division. He does not speak of his decade of service, only to say that launching his new career in his mid-thirties was one of the best things that ever happened to him. He has had male, female and alien lovers, has always treated them well, but never seems to settle down.

Jonas Blake (Jason Mamoa)

The star that launched Mac's career several years ago is the famous lead guitarist, Jonas Blake. Jonas hasn't performed in the past two years due to a shuttle accident which injured his hand. Jonas now hangs around the Capital offices on Shiner Station and tries to offer Mac advice now and then. He also tends to get into trouble quite a bit.

Hannah Blake (Rachel Luttrell)

His sister, Hannah Blake, is an executive with the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) on Shiner Station. The FTC regulates everything from entertainment acts to coffee stirrers. As such, they often know more about what is really going on than any security or government official. She's sassy and classy and lectures her brother every time he gets into trouble, but still bails him out.

Wendel Franklin (Jensen Ackles)

Wendel Franklin is a sound guy, that and his name are the only things geeky about him. He's part human and part something else and has incredible hearing and a flair for acoustics. He manages all the technical aspects of booking shows throughout the region and is frequently on site with the bands. One his most endearing quirks is that he has absolutely no idea how good looking he is.

Francesca O'Lghi'Breqh (Lexa Doig)

Some call her a diva, but Francesca O'Lghi'Breqh has more depth than that. From a race of people who literally float when they sing, she has a stage presence that is remarkable. She is one of the most sought after talents in the galaxy. Other agents have tried to woo her away, but she refuses to leave Mac, despite his gruff exterior. Rumor has it that he once saved her life.

Minda Southland (Gina Torres)

Minda Southland, Mac's office manager, is the one who really runs the show. Without her, the show really wouldn't go on. Little is known of her past other than she comes from a rough region of Earth. Lacking formal education, her street smarts and ability to predict and overcome obstacles are invaluable.
