Now that it's freaking March, how about a birthday picture post?
No, I haven't just been lazy. See, I have a lot of friends who seem to prefer belated gifts. And it's usually not just because THEY'RE lazy; it's because many of them just prefer to give me stuff in person and we don't necessarily see each other that often. So every time I was about ready to do this post, someone else would say "oh, when I see you next week I'll bring your birthday gift!" Aw hell.
But at this rate I will just be saving my photo post for Christmas (because yes, there's STILL one coming), so I will now show you the crap I got for my birthday. Which was in January. Pics are clickable if you want to examine something in more detail!
Presents from Reeny: Mother & Son DVD, Fun Mix, red patterned dress, sparkly keychain, lock and key necklace, photo collage, balloons.
Presents from my grandparents: Cool earrings, and they also sent me a $30 check.
Present from Mom: Stained glass candle holder that she made.
Presents from Sister P: Little stickers and creative packing tape.
Presents from Jeaux: A shirt that says "I wish I was the only one who had this shirt" and a plastic pie crust cutter thing.
Present from Cara: Magazine subscription to Poets & Writers.
Presents from Laura: Books! Hereville graphic novel, I Am J book, and Kindred book! (They arrived separately, so I got them photographed at different times.)
Presents from Sarah: DVDs Benny & Joon, Monsters Inc., and What's Eating Gilbert Grape, plus shoelaces and barrettes.
Present from Jessie: A magnet with an inspirational quote: "You are unrepeatable. There is a magic about you that is all your own..."
Presents from Victor: Cookies & Bars cookbook, Sing-A-Ma-Jigs toys, shirts with clever phrases on them, Twizzlers candy, bandannas with money and black paisley on them, Pez dispensers, a moving plant toy, and three pens.
Presents from Jay: A webcam, a pencil sharpener, batteries and a battery charger, three bike lights, four flashlights, a box of puffy paints, a box of glitter, some colored pencils, a krumkake iron and the rollers for the cones, a baking cookbook, and an unexplained A/C adapter with the wire cut in half. Oh, and a DVD involving him fooling around with making a cartoon.
Present from Mikey: A shirt bought at the Renaissance Faire. Check out the second picture for the hilarious washing instructions.
Present from Phil: A grocery store gift card. He also got me an annoying card that says "Are you cute?" on the front and makes noise when you open it, and it features two cartoony male voices catcalling and whistling and making slobbering commentary about the attractiveness of whoever opened the card. The noise goes on for maybe a full minute. I wonder why this guy's my ex-boyfriend?
Present from Fred: Kristin Chenoweth's biography.
Present from Stacy: The Maxx graphic novel.
And my dad gave me some money and an Amazon gift certificate, and my friend Paul gave me a SingSnap gold membership.
The package from Jay was kind of hilarious. He is an interesting man I met on SingSnap in December, and he's 75 years old and owns lots of crap. He asked me if he could send me a "box of stuff." He sometimes receives stuff from people he knows who test products or something, so he ends up with multiple copies of things he could never hope to use. Some of the stuff he sent me was from that. But the glitter . . . it spilled in the package and got on EVERYTHING. It's all over the place. It's STILL all over the place, even though I tried to vacuum it up! And I still don't know why he sent me an A/C adapter with the cord cut in two. He hasn't answered the e-mail I sent which included that question. :/
And that's it! :)
