Yesterday on my way to work I was listening to my mp3 player as usual and there was a weird voice in the background of the song. I didn't think said song had any "Hey! Hey!" in it, which was confirmed when the song stopped but the "Hey!" kept coming.
I turned and practically right on top of me was this dude who definitely looked like a bum, holding out a pack of cigarettes and a paper. I thought sure he was about to ask me for money, but he didn't--he just extended the paper toward me and said . . .
"Are you on your way to college?"
Uh, no. I graduated college in 2000.
"Oh, I thought maybe you were in college. Do you know what this is?"
He was showing me the paper, which was folded in such a way that it made me think it had probably come out of his cigarette pack. It looked like an ad to me. I guess he thought I needed to be in college in order to be able to puzzle out the paper's meaning.
I told him I had no idea what the paper was.
"It says 'Yeee-haw!' on it," he informed me.
Yeah.
"What do you think this MEANS??" he asked.
I told him I didn't know. Looks like an ad.
"Well what do you think it is? It looks like a LOVE NOTE or something!"
No it doesn't. It looks like an ad. "You may have already won," a sweepstakes, something dumb.
I told him I don't buy those sorts of products and I'm not familiar with their ads. I don't know what it is either.
"Okay miss," he said. "Okay now. You have . . . "
And then he stopped for a second.
I figured this was going to be either "you have a dollar?" or "you have a really nice set of tits."
But then after a weird pause, he continued:
" . . . you have a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT day, okay??"
I told him I would work on that and kept motoring on for my bus.
I wonder what his deal was?
Interesting way to begin a morning.
