My tax refund finally showed up so I have paid off all of my bills. Since then it's been consume, consume, consume. Actually, I've been rather good about it. Usually I get a refund and I'm out buying a car-load of stupid shit. I thought for sure I would have blown the whole thing on dvd sets, you know the television ones, I have a few seasons of Buffy and I'm totally buying Gilmore Girls next month. But I really want the Freaks and Geeks set and the first two seasons of CSI were genius. Plus, you know, our house is still empty; I could buy more domestic type things. I have, however, bought a ton of books. Just last night I ordered the mother load from powells. I'm on this signed first edition kick now but I'm staying loyal, no ebay for me.
We went to Asheville Saturday, just for the day to see American Analog Set. We walked around, went to Malaprops, had diner, went to the show and drove home. Nothing too exciting but it was great to get out of the city. That Volkswagen is a joy to drive and it is the most comfortable car I've ever sat in. I can see why everyone has them. My neighborhood is full of them. Hondas still pretty much rule over the UNCC side of town, but here on the Queens side, it's all about VW. I have to admit, I didn't expect to love any car made after 1980 but I'm growing quite fond of this funny german that lives in my driveway. It has a huge trunk, you'd never think that, but it's massive. (If you can keep a secret, my trunk is currently stuffed full of puppy stuff, a bed, bowl, toys, leashes and the like because I'm buying Rob a lab for his graduation present. I'm trying to be responsible and be ready for the dog rather than, picking a dog and then dropping a couple hundred at the pet store. I've still spent way too much money but it's been spread out over a few paychecks. He doesn't know about the puppy yet, only that my trunk contains some sort of surprise and he's not allowed to look.)
I just ran out of coffee.
