Ok, I admit I'm one of those nasty, jealous people who mocks marathoners (they ARE bad for you!) but secretly wishes she had the discipline to do one, but I *don't*, so... i'm going to do the Lazyman Triathalon at the Evanston Y. It is the full Ironman Triathalon, just... done over 6 weeks (though, 5 in my case, cuz I'm starting late).
there's a registration fee, which isn't for anything real, but, I love love love the whole Y scene, so, I don't mind supporting them a teeny bit.
http://www.mcgawymca.org/resources/program/LazyMan_08_flyer.pdf I'm gonna do the Double Run one, which is kind of odd, a Triathalon without swimming is really something else, isn't it? A biathalon? And, i don't RUN at all -- i walk, but anyway... The total is 52.4 miles walking/running and 112 miles biking. so if i never miss a day (yeah, right) 1.5 miles/day walking (23 minutes), 3.36 miles biking. It means not doing Nia and wateraerobics as much, and not as much rowing.
The thing is, I'm eating like a crazy teenage boy. Just can't stop eating. Constantly. I was reading some weird women's mag at the gym that people only have so much discipline, and, if you are stepping up your exercise, it might be too much to also start a stricter diet. In my case, it's not so much a constant amount of discipline that peters out, but a constant level of slacking that i spread around in several areas -housekeeping, exercise, eating, working, tv watching, sleep habits. i have some constant degree of dysfunction, so, if i stop watching tons of bad tv, i increase my eating of salt and vinegar chips till my lips crack. if i start cleaning my house, i stop preparing fully for class. if i start being really organized at work, i start staying up all night during the week and binge sleeping on the weekend.
So, I guess if I'm going to be focused on something, it is better that i'm exercising a lot rather than fixating on a low-cal diet. i do feel like the latest chocolate binges are some sort of "I'll show you" angry inner child acting out. i admit it, i believe in the inner child! and i'm excited about weird fitness challenges and i LOVE the stuffed tigger my friend brettina gave me for my birthday!
