I'm in Oregon visiting family, and watching the local news. The last day was all sorts of dire warnings about the dastardly weather -- after watching it and getting freaked out myself about a trip to visit my family in the backwoods at a higher elevation where snow can really fall, I see why my mother freaks out so much about the weather. My poor mom has hardcore anxiety about everything anyway, and the TV news is not her friend! It's amazing how they can whip a snowstorm story into a tale of doom.
But now, the news teaser is -- "stay tuned to hear what crazy thing a local boy did to a lawn reindeer that led to a homeowner's death. what makes locals most angry -- the ridiculous thing the youth did as a prank."
then, they have interviews with neighbors who are upset that
"2 reindeer were found in the mating position, and 2 on the ground." a neighbor lady said: 'it's horrible. i don't know what these kids are learning, what they're getting out of it. could they get those kids for manslaughter?'"
evidently the homeowner tried to chase away the youth who was doing nasty reindeer games and the man had a heart attack while running. the news anchor further reports:
"no charges are pending in this case, but detectives tell us this neighborhood boy could face trespassing charges, and depending on what the district attorneys find, they could face even more serious charges. police are looking for any information on the juveniles from last night, so please call longview police if you have any information."
also, KATU posted pictures from "younews" sent in by viewers. one picture was shown with the following remarks: "There will not be any meals outside for awhile as the patio dining set is covered with snow."
