Stupid Trains
So my first day went well. I woke up at 6:20 and was out the door by 7:15. I didn't get to Southwest until 8:20 though! There was a train in down town orlando that came to dead stop and caused me to be late. My teacher was SUPER understanding...but I'm not going that way to work any more. Even though the train is not supposed to go through until 9...it obviously does NOT adhere to that rule.
My day. Great! The children are great, very well behaved for middle school. My cooperating teacher is SUPER nice, and very sociable. The drive isn't bad (when there aren't trains) and I actually got to "teach" today. I showed the bassoon players how to put together their instruments (beginning band.) It was cool! (But I do remember why bassoon is so tough! After putting it together and showing them how to use the seat strap I looked at it b/c all of the keys were facing me. And I was like "OH YEAH!" I hope you girls have flexible thumbs! They gave me a quizicle look until I showed them the abundance of keys played with the thumbs and side palm.)
There are three beginning bands which is CRAZY! It's good and bad. Good b/c yay beginners and yay the same lesson plan 3 times. Boooooooo b/c the same lesson three times. But that still makes the yay's win! :)
The kitchen is also a definite plus at Southwest...full oven, Forman grill, toaster oven, microwave, AND fridge/freezer. It's fab!
One other bummer is the water...I'll have to bring two bottles b/c the water from the fountain isn't the greatest...it's not horrible but since I have two huge bottles, I'll bring 'em.
