BEATEN!!
I have been a fan of Metroid since the first Metroid came out for the NES. I have played all the metroid games out (except for Hunters). But I have NEVER gotten around to beating the first metroid. Finally I sat down and played it today, and I FUCKING BEAT IT!! So here are my thoughts.
It isnt NEARLY as big as Super Metroid, but it is harder. The game keeps slowing down, and I kept fucking up when it happened. The damn ringots were twice as much of a nuisance as they were in super metroid, but killing mother brain was kinda lame compared to Super Metroid.
Amazingly Kraid was harder than Ridley. All I had to do to beat Ridley was to stand in front of the first ledge in front of him and plug away with missles. He didnt hit me once. Kraid was much more of a pain in the ass because of those damn projectiles, but Ridley was a pushover.
I didnt get the good ending, because I had to die and save a few times (thats the only way you can save), then go to one of those pods where things repeatedly fly out, and keep plugging until I had full energy and ammo. But that didnt matter to me, the fact that I finally got to beat the first metroid made me happy enough. When mother brain went down like a bitch, I dropped my controller, looked up at the ceiling, and sighed a grateful sigh.
Now I feel fulfilled. Almost an "opening presents during christmasy" feeling.
