I ended my week off flat ass broke, and I dont get paid for another week and a half....go me!
I guess my job got flooded out yesterday, it was pretty cool, until this morning. I went out there when I got the news at about 3 yesterday to take pictures of the DC sitting in the middle of an awesome lake, then a cop told me to push off or I will get a ticket, I just looked back and yelled "I work there!". We were in doubt that the DC would be open today, due to the fact the warehouse and Kosan/shipping was flooded. But alas, it was open this morning, and we had to work in water, filth, heat, and stink for 12 hours. I guess a number of people succumbed to asthma attacks, and some were punching up OSHA all day about our unsanitary work conditions. But I was happy to be out of there, and I got an A on my paper in class, so far so good. Things are for the most part on track with school, and I see a diploma in my hand within the next 2-3 months.
But with that in mind, I am seriously re-thinking integrating myself into Lawrence and going to KU. I like Lawrence and all, some awesome shops and pubs. But I am a very meat and potatoes person, and I could honestly care less about how awful it is that cows are slaughtered for human consumption, or the ill-tempered lesbian problem there. Not to mention the fact that people we cared about that moved there think of us in a condescending manner, or that we are just not "smart" enough to be bothered with. I am probably gonna just move to KC and commute quietly to KU every day. I do like Lawrence, and there is one or two people I would still care to associate with, but I wont sell out, like some people I knew.
The ball is rolling with this study abroad program, and all I need is a 4000 dollar student loan, 900 bucks or so for transportation, whatever it will cost for a brit-rail pass, the 700 dollar application fee, and whatever spending money I can get. Its gonna be expensive, but I am surely gonna try.
Oh yeah, I just saw some trailers for the DOOM movie, it BETTER be good. I also am aware of a remake of Carpenter's The Fog. I am appauled, the original was one of my favourite horror movies, and it has now been remoulded in order to conform with the "Ring" trend seen in pretty much every horror movie that has been released since 2002. I remember the whole "Scream" knock-off trend of the late 90's, and was glad to see it gone, and there was once again room for originality and good horror, then "The ring" had to come out and ruin it all over again. I think I am gonna switch to romantic comedies or something.
