But I totally agree with everything you've said in your second paragraph there. The only thing I'll disagree with is that I have different views on the whole "They're just following orders" line because if you take everything I've said here, I have kind of similar ideas on Charles. He didn't do the right thing, and it was a dumbass thing to say, but I think he said it because he doesn't know any better, not because he wanted to cause any harm or because he's socially inept or anything. He's lived an extremely different life to Erik and in that kind of high pressure, high stakes situation, he didn't have time to weigh his words or think about them or try and find a diplomatic way of approaching things. He shouldn't have said it, but I don't think he should be slaughtered for saying it either. He's under a shitload of pressure, he's trying to save the world from WWIII, his best friend is trying to blow up a lot of people, and for the first time he's in completely unknown territory with the addition of the helmet.
Like I said, they're TRAGIC because they are both floundering around most of the time and having no idea how to deal with each other and they both make some really shitty mistakes and I JUST LOVE THEM SO MUCH ;____;
