Bad Omens

The new year looms over my head like a harbinger of doom. I have seen too much death in the past month that it has me in contemplation. Where did all this bad karma come from?
The first death comes in the form of my mother’s best friend from her childhood dying just before Christmas. The second death comes just after the first when the boyfriend’s best friend dies. Last Wednesday I had to take one of my dog’s to the pound to be euthanized. Tomorrow, I am going to commit the same act with another dog. The littermate to the one I had put down. This dog belongs to my 68-year-old aunt; she has asked me to go down with her so I can show her where the SPCA is.

I am a bad human. At least, I feel like one.

I’ve been told that death comes in threes. It is like a curse or something. So far, I don’t know of anyone else close to my family that is ill.

. . . . . bad omens.
