Title: Seeing Me
Words: 100
Rating: G
Notes: As some atonement for past (and no doubt future) snarks. ;) Also, this is (perhaps obviously) set a couple years in the past.
The judges look at me and see "more respectful".
My bosses look at me and see "less trouble".
My co-workers look at me and see "more blue-collar, less blue-blood".
The captain looks at me and sees "less argumentative, yet more work".
The squad looks at me and they...well, they just see a shadow.
But it won't always be like that.
Someday they'll all look at me and they won't just see a figment or a memory, they won't see "more" or "less" anything.
Someday when they look at me they won't see "not her".
Someday they'll just see me.
