It's All Over Now

We spelled a word today to try and not let Ev hear what we were talking about. She read it and told us what we were talking about. D'oh. We shouldn't be surprised, a parent who volunteers in her classroom recently told Kevin that Ev was easily the best reader in the class.

Ev continues to crack us up in her frank, black and white, matter of fact interpretations of things. Some recent comments were:

"Dad, you gotta start thinking with your head brain."  He forgot to put raisins in her oatmeal, after two reminders.

My favorite recent conversation:

Dad:  "Hurry, you guys turn into pumpkins in ten minutes (trying to get us to get ready in time for the bus in the morning).
Ev looked confused.
Me:  "That expression comes from Cinderella. Remember how the fairy godmother turns a pumpkin into the carriage? But, at midnight the carriage turns into a pumpkin?"
Ev: "Right, then the pumpkin decays."
Kevin: "Ah. My little emo five year old."

We had a great weekend playing "Clean House." We totally de-cluttered Ev's room and organized it. We all love it. Kevin and I just want to hang around in there. Her room is a total inspiration.

Violet is getting big. She is sleeping in her own crib (finally). She's starting to "get" eating food, and she wants to put the spoon in her own mouth. She thinks the sound that you make when you are eating baby feet or tummies, or to try and get her to eat foodm, is rip roaring hilarious. In fact, she starts laughing when we put her in the high chair, because she thinks it's going to be hilarious. She is just over five months and just about 16 pounds now.
