Over time, new words are invented
Some words end up meaning something else than what they used to mean
But the only word I can think of off-hand that no longer seems to mean anything at all is "quality"
There is something called ISO 9000. According to Wikipedia, "ISO 9000 is a family of standards for quality management systems". The first time I ever heard of it was at work when someone turned up and asked us if we had studied our departments documentation properly since The Inspector was about to arrive. She did not look pleased when she found out that *none* of us had ever heard of it and that we had hardly any documentation for anything.
In other news, even though I can think of no other reason for not throwing away that stuff that I should have thrown away before I left England is that I after all spent a fair bit of money shipping it over here (together with my other stuff), I still can't get around to actually doing the "throwing it away" part.
