The thing about Clark and Lana at this point in the show, is that someone with Clark's powers can't afford that kind of moral ambiguity--that road leads to his becoming the conqueror he never wanted to be.

And I like that you had Oliver point out that Clark had no obligations to tell Lana his secrets. That's one thing that always bothered me on "Smallville." Because I know I don't expect my friends to tell me everything about themselves, and I know I don't tell them everything about myself. No one is obligated to share something private; it's a sign of trust if you do tell someone about yourself, but it's earned and it's granted--it can't be demanded. So I like this Oliver for Clark a lot more than Lana.

"The thing about Clark and Lana at this point in the show, is that someone with Clark's powers can't afford that kind of moral ambiguity"

And Lana doesn't get that. She thinks he should kill Lex and murder is not a Clark thing. Murder would be uncharacteristic of Superman. And despite the fact he hasn't donned the costume just yet doesn't mean that he's not going to. His morals aren't going to change.

"And I like that you had Oliver point out that Clark had no obligations to tell Lana his secrets."

Honestly, that is a major pain in my side too! Everyone thinks they're entitled to Clark's secrets and it just makes me so upset. they're HIS secrets, he doesn't owe them to anyone. And you are right on the mark about the whole trust has to be granted. in never say goodbye, i had ollie say that to lana.

honestly, i think i speak my own feelings through oliver. LOL. but i'm so glad you liked the fic though.

thanks for reading and commenting!

See, Oliver is one of the few people on Smallville who actually has a brain and isn't ruled by his dick or psychological trauma. It's good Clark has someone to talk to who isn't tainted by Smallville. Clark just has to *listen*...

Now he and Ollie need to smooch so Clark can fully realize he doesn't need Lana for anything.

I know, Oliver is the best, and we're smart enough to love him. After "Wrath", I really thought Clark just need a hug. Oliver fit the bill. :D

LOL, i was going to have them get together but I wanted Lana to be completely out of the picture before I did that. I might, however, have a sequel. :D

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

"They’re your secrets. Why on Earth you would believe you owe them to anyone, I have no idea"

Ahh yes me and my friend had an arguement over this fact, he believes Clark should have told Lana his secret, i believe he had no obligations to do so, those are his secrets, sharing ones secret is a sign of trust and being in love isn't enough reason to spill everything, when you love someone you stick with them and support them you have to earn their trust, and insiting and pushing them to reveal every secret to you is not the way to go. Lana was and is too imature and has this idea that the world revolves around her, and to some point she's no better than Lex.

And it always bothers me how on Smallville they let Lana and Lex blame Clark for who they are, what they've become and to some point even some viewers blame Clark (my friend being one) this idiotic idea is a fault i place on SV writters and their obsesion with Lana Lang.

Exactly!! You're brilliant. Clark's secrets are HIS. IF he wishes to tell someone, he should but under no circumstance is he under any obligation to do so. His secrets have nothing to do with LANA and she should just butt out.

Really, both Lana and Lex are awful in that way. They both feel the sense of entitlement and really, they deserve NOTHING.

Clark shouldn't be blamed for anything. He doesn't deserve half the accusations Lana and Lex throw at him. >:(

After "Wrath", I really felt horrible for Clark. So I brought in Ollie to make everything better. :)

Glad it worked for you. Thanks for taking the time to read & review!

I agree with everything Oliver told Clark here! No one is entitled to knowing Clark's secrets, it's his decision to make and trust has to be earned. As for Clark being blamed for what Lex and Lana have become, that's totally stupid! It's clear a manipulation on Lex's part. People make their own choices and decisions and have to own their mistakes. Lex puts the blame on Clark because he knows Clark has a tendency to blame himself for everything that goes wrong around him. Lex is playing on Clark's innate goodness to Lex's advantage. I hope Clark stops falling for Lex's twisted words and manipulations soon!

I'm glad Clark found a friend who could understand him and help him in this fic. He certainly needed it! Thanks for writing it!

You are totally on the mark. That's one of the parts I hate about the show. Clark has such a big heart that people take advantage of it too often. He really doesn't have to tell anyone his secrets . . . they're HIS secrets, for crying out loud. :\

I want to write a story where Clark just yells back. It'd be good for him. I tried that in one of my previous fics, where Clark gets hit by a spell and ends up spilling his emotions all the time. It was fun. :D

After "Wrath", I really believed Clark needed a hug. And I really missed Oliver and he was so good for Clark. :D So i brought him back.

Thank YOU for reading and commenting. I'm so glad you liked it!

Wooo Hoooo!!! Go Oliver!!

Bugs the hell out of me when people think they have a right to know all of Clark's secrets. Puhleeezzzeeeee stop the hipocracy train! Better yet...just blow the damn thing up. If he wants to tell them...then it's his business if and when he does..and that's only when he's good and ready.

It also annoys the hell out of me how in the show, Clark thinks everything is his fault. I was pratically cheering when I read the part of Oliver telling Clark to once think for himself and what he wants.

Gooooo Collie! Lana who?? LMAO

Another fabulous story from you!

Doesn't Ollie just win at life? We all love him. Clark needed someone after "Wrath" and I thought Oliver will be the perfect person.

It frustrates me too. I'm SO on Clark's side when it comes to his secrets. They're HIS and he doesn't owe them to anyone.

And he really needs to stop blaming himself for everything. It allows certain people *cough Lexcough* to take advantage of him.

Yeah, Lana sucks. Collie all the way! I'm thinking of writing a sequel. :D I'm super glad this one worked for you.
