Title: I Hold Myself [But I Wish You Would Hold Me]
Fandom: Green Lantern
Pairing/Characters: Carol Ferris, Carol Ferris/Hal Jordan
Rating: PG
Word Count: 278
Disclaimer: all characters belong to DC Comics
Summary: She misses him, especially on those cold, lonely nights.
Prompt: A body wishes to be held, & held, & what
Can you do about that?
In the City of Light by Larry Levis

Carol Ferris prided herself on being an independent woman- she was smart, tough, and successful, making her name known in what was usually a male dominated industry. Sure, there were remarks regarding nepotism that she had to face, as it did start out as her father's company, but she usually had the idiots who underestimated her eating their words eventually.

However, success didn't keep you warm at night, and sometimes, even she got lonely. More than that, she got lonely for one particular person. As she sat on her balcony, she watched out into the night. Clear skies, the few stars that were scattering about shining brightly over Coast City, but it was what she wasn't there that she was looking for.

A light. A green light. Coming from a certain member of the Green Lantern Corps.

But Hal Jordan was in space, doing his duty and not only protecting Earth, but the universe at large. And she understood that. She respected that, but damn it, she was only human, and humans needed affection, craved it. Wanted to be held and loved and cherished, and Carol wasn't exempt from those feelings. More importantly, she wanted him to love and hold and make her feel safe and sound through the night.

Unfortunately though, she fell in love with a hero, and a hero whose true home was in space, not by her side. And she knew that he loved her, knew that he would return to her eventually, and give her at least some of the attention she secretly craved.

Until then, she'd wait.

And hold herself.

Dreaming of the day that he'd return and do it for her.

Title: Fire and Ice
Fandom: Smallville
Pairing/Characters: Lois/Tess
Rating: PG
Word Count: 294
Disclaimer: all characters belong to the CW/DC Comics
Summary: Their relationship was all fire and ice.
Prompt: fight

It shouldn't have been a surprise that when Lois and Tess got together, their relationship was volatile, to say the least. Fire and ice, burning strong one day, and cool the next. Passion that could not be contained, both in and out of the bedroom, and a love that took them both by surprise. As both of them were very proud, strong-willed women, it was also not a surprise that their fights were just as loud and intense as they were.

There were screaming matches, followed by dead silence, avoidance tactics a plenty with them. Lois could hardly remember what had sparked this particular one. Was it a story that Tess hadn't wanted her going on? Or maybe it was the fact that Tess still didn't want to keep their relationship behind closed doors. She shook her head, eyes darting from her computer, across the Daily Planet foor to the office in which her girlfriend resided, most likely steaming as well. Not that a person would be able to tell by her cool composure, which hardly ever revealed anything to anyone she didn't care about.

Lois bit her lip, as she realized that she didn't fall into that category. So maybe Tess overreacted a little, but wasn't Lois happy that she cared? Maybe she couldn't give her the open relationship that Lois sometimes longed for, but when had Lois really wanted to be in the spotlight and have everyone judging her relationship anyway? A little secrecy could be fun. It was fun, and besides, the people who were important to them knew and wasn't that all that mattered?

Silently vowing to go see Tess after the workday was over, she got back to her article.

Besides, the best part about fighting?

The making up.

Title: The Red Door
Fandom: Smallville
Pairing/Characters: Lois/Clark
Rating: G
Word Count: 456
Disclaimer: all characters belong to the CW/DC Comics
Summary: Clark has a surprise for Lois.
Prompt: this picture

"Where are we going, Smallville?"

"Just keep those eyes closed," her husband instructed her, as they slowly walked toward what Lois assumed was their destination. She was always impatient, so she hated surprises, but she tried her best to be patient, for Clark's sake. However, Lois couldn't change who she was, so she kept wondering where they were going, as she let her husband lead her.

Finally, after what felt like ages, they stopped.

"All right, we're here."

"About time," she teased. "Can I open my eyes now?"

"Go ahead," he replied. And did he sound nervous? Now Lois was even more curious, and she opened her eyes eagerly, looking for her surprise. What she found had her gasping.

In front of her stood a few steps, leading to a bright red door and a familiar looking home. Her gaze darted between the door and Clark's face, who was staring at her anxiously, awaiting her response. But for once, Lois Lane was speechless, taken aback as her memories of her childhood flooded her, along with her husband's thoughtfulness.

As an army brat, Lois got used to moving around fairly early in her childhood, not allowing herself to get used to any one place or home or the people there. There was this one house though, with a bright red door, just like this one, that Lois had loved and where her memories of her mother were the brightest. The same house which she had told Clark about one night while they were cuddling and sharing stories.

Clearly it wasn't this one, but the resemblance was striking.

"How did you-?" she managed, managing to form words at last.

"I stumbled upon it by accident," Clark admitted. "But it reminded me so much of the stories you told me that I couldn't resist. I know this isn't the house where you had memories of your mom, but I figured maybe in this one, we can make new memories- together."

She gazed at him incredulously. "We're going to live here?"

"If you want," Clark said. "We could. If you don't like it though, we don't-"

That's all he managed to get out before Lois threw her arms around him and pulled him into a passionate kiss. He immediately responded, and she melted into his embrace, as she had so many times before. Pulling away moments later, she sighed happily.

"Have I told you lately how much I love you?"

"So I take it you like that?" Clark asked, grinning.

"I love it," she confessed, overcome with emotion. "And I love you."

"I love you too," he replied, continuing to hold her close.

And Lois knew that wherever her mom was, she too was watching down in approval as well.

Title: I Will Protect You [The Only Way I Know How]
Fandom: Smallville
Pairing/Characters: Lois Lane, Lucy Lane
Rating: G
Word Count: 207
Disclaimer: all characters belong to the CW/DC Comics
Summary: a moment from Lois and Lucy's childhood.
Prompt: childhood

"Why can't mommy come and play with us?" a 5 year old Lucy Lane demanded, pouting childishly. Lois, not much older herself, frowned a little, as she figured out a way to explain the situation to her sister, when she herself didn't quite understand.

She vaguely remembered her father's words, as he told his oldest daughter what was going on with her mother.

"Your mom is sick ... can't play with you ... have to be brave little soldier and take care of Lucy, okay?"

Pursing her lips, Lois said, in a voice much older than her 8 years, "She just can't. Mom's not feeling well now."

"But I want her to," Lucy said sadly. Looking hopefully at her older sister, she asked, "She'll get better, right, Lo?"

Lois hesitated, unsure of the answer herself, and gave a jerky nod. Quickly, she grabbed her sister's hand, and tugged on it, changing the topic. "Come on, let's go to the park. Maybe the ice cream man will be there again."

"Ice cream!" Lucy repeated, her young mind easily accepting the distraction, and allowing Lois to lead her in the direction of the park. "I want ice cream!"

And with that, the topic was dropped.

For now, at least, the topic was dropped.

Title: More Than This
Fandom: Smallville
Pairing/Characters: Tess Mercer
Rating: G
Word Count: 193
Disclaimer: all characters belong to the CW/DC Comics
Summary: Tess knew that she was meant for more, and she'd fight to get what she deserved.
Prompt: I Will Wade Out - E.E. Cummings
i will wade out
till my thighs are steeped in burning flowers
I will take the sun in my mouth
and leap into the ripe air
Alive
with closed eyes
to dash against darkness
in the sleeping curves of my body
Shall enter fingers of smooth mastery
with chasteness of sea-girls
Will i complete the mystery
of my flesh
I will rise
After a thousand years
lipping
flowers
And set my teeth in the silver of the moons

Tess always knew she was meant for more, meant for more than what the orphanage could give her. More than what the Mercers could give her. And definitely more than what she got when she was stuck in that hell hole of an island, before Oliver Queen showed up. Even though she loved her work as a marine biologist and had a passion for it, a part of her realized that she was destined to do something bigger. However, she also realized, if not consciously, at least subconsciously, that she would have to fight for everything she wanted. For everything she deserved.

But Tess was tough- she was nothing if not a fighter, and she would never back down from a fight, not for anything and especially not when it came to something as important as her life and what she was going to accomplish with it. She'd take it day by day though, be patient and slowly plan, making the right connections and making smart decisions. Her past may be a mess, and her future might be constantly changing, but the present was her's.

And she'd always make the most of it.
