So I saw the opening ceremony last night. Wasn't it amazing? I was in awe the whole time!
On sadder news today, which I found out through
quiet__tiger's journal,
relatives of a US Coach were killed today.
And the smog may to cause the runners/cyclists
some issues.
Though I thought the opening was spectacular, I was always wondering ... why hold it in Beijing? WHY the Summer Olympics, which has a lot of events that need to be held outside?
I mean, don't people take into consideration the athletes' health? I remember reading about this one runner who is not going to do the marathon because of the poor air quality and he didn't want to risk it.
I guess we'll just have to see how this all plays out.
On an unrelated note, Bernie Mac
died today at the age of 50.
I wasn't a big fan but I did like him in the Ocean's movies. :(
