Wow, June already. Where does the time go? *down the drain down the drain down the draaaain*
Anime North was ok, but not terribly exciting and I have no amusing incidents to tell from this one. I had a headache and a bastard of a muscle-ache in my shoulders/back area. Whatever the hell that part of anatomy’s called (guess which class in art school I slept through XD)
(…Well okay, I slept through _all of them_. But life-drawing was a particularly enjoyable nap. d^.^b)

Like I mentioned, overall AN was pretty uneventful (except for that one time when a whole wall of shelves with comics and dvds came crashing down. RIGHT OVER THE VENDORS. I saw the metal bar go right across one guy’s arm-and he just got up and chuckled, ‘happens all the time’, apparently.. Remind me to never own a store >.>). The con was also pretty stressful, lots of running back and forth. Though it did have bright moments-when folks I knew would come up and chat a bit with us. I finally got to meet rowan_redfern (:D *wave*) riki_hime’s costume=Teh Awesome. Am severely jealous of all the cosplayers and want to wear pretty costumes, too. Monica, who was the Wolfwood in the photo from last year report, was that green thing from the Katamari Dynasty. And she promised me the picture they took, but in the meantime, I steal one from flying_squirrel :D

Another highlight was going to TCAF, to talk about American Manga on a panel with Lianne Sentar, Amy Kim Ganther and Becky Cloonan (there was also a guy whose name I didn’t quite catch-and he wasn’t in the program, so I couldn’t discreetly educate myself as to who he was. Oh well). The panel was great, really fun, intelligent discussion. All three ladies were a pleasure to make acquaintance with, though I suspect I was not at my best, socially. Forgot to take pictures, forgot to get sketches (got Amy, though, ha!). Headache, lack of food and bustling crowds equal one cranky Svet. I think I was rude to someone, even. I’d be ashamed but I really was in enough pain that I would now pardon myself even for accidentally nuking the world. So there. Derek Kirk Kim had sold out of "Same Difference" by the time I got there and Vera Brosgol was MIA. Woe… But I got to see Raina and Dave again! And then didn’t get their autographs/sketches. AGAIN. Dagnabit.
Saw Jeff Smith talk about Bone, but couldn’t listen to a word he was saying. Stupid crowds, making me all anxious and nervous. Wanted to get stuff signed by him but there was a line. I don’t do lines if I have a choice, so I just uttered a heavy sigh and decided to harass him another day and place.
On Friday evening we hung out with moutenchi, shinigamishimai and her lovely wife, Kim. Much catching up! I don’t keep in touch enough. So much work… …Holy sentence fragments, Batman XD
Ah! Another highlight-on Saturday evening my bestest ever sister and I went downstairs to the hotel’s café and ate a fancy dinner, because I felt we deserved a break after that hell of a day (commuting-ugh). I ordered parmesan chicken with pasta, and while the pasta was meh, the chicken was _perfect_. The cake wasn’t bad, but that’s all it was.
On Sunday I finally got the DDR dance-mats. Now all I need is a PS2 and the game (they were sold out when I got there). May or may not post pictures of myself being an utter idiot with it :>

When I came back I went straight back to work on The Book That Ate Svet’s Life. More on that in another post once I get my brain unscrambled.

Also, can’t believe I almost forgot-yesterday was the National Day Against Homophobia!

Here’s hoping for a kinder society, come tomorrow.
“Love your neighbour as yourself.” The man knew what he was talking about.

..Aaaaand while I am on this soapbox, anyway, I would like to congratulate the society and officially Svet-approve the following changes that were made in the past century or so:
--inter-racial marriages are no longer illegal. Yay!
--slavery is no longer normal. Double yay!
--despite not being equipped with man-bits, I get to vote, get a proper education AND get any job I want! Also, major points for the permission to wear pants and skimpy shirts when it’s hot. Much obliged.
--cultural, social, religious, racial, etc., bigotry seems to be toning down compared to 50 some years ago. Most excellent. I glow with pride, my fellow Earthians.
--there were many more changes that I very much approve, but I’m tired and my brain does its best imitation of the Blue Screen of Death @__@

In conclusion, I post scribblies:

--page from DRAMACON, which I’m showing because I love Christie’s expression in the top right-hand panel.

--random quickie scribble of a scene observed while in Toronto-a woman in an expensive car at a red light, and a thoroughly homeless man walking by with his donations cup, looking at car (woman?).

---------WARNING: these 2 pics contain artistic nudity----------

--I’m sure this concept had been done to death before my time. Watch me not care :D Sister says this would make a good print. By now know better than to doubt sister XD

--silly human. Who said you could fly?
----------------------------------------------------------------

Bed is humankind’s greatest invention.
Svet!
