The London Underground. Often the biggest frustration about a trip to London, but (if you ask me) also one of the greatest things about it. 274 stations (Shoreditch has been flattened. Regardless of what Guinness say). Some in Buckinghamshire, many in the former county of Middlesex, some even reaching into Essex.
So, next comes the thought, why not try and visit them all? How long would that take? Hmm... Why not try it?
So that's what I'm doing. In aid of Children in Need. On Friday the 16th November myself and an as yet uncertain number of friends will be departing Amersham at 0525 and hoping to reach Heathrow before 0017.
So what can you do? Most importantly you can
donate. It's secure, easy, and you don't have to worry about me nicking any of the money since it goes to Children in Need without me seeing it.
What else? Well, if you're around London on that day any moral support/chocolate/coffee will be much appreciated, especially as the day goes on. The route is always being updated by the routemaster (James), and no doubt things won't go entirely to plan on the day, but I'm sure we'll be able to organise meetings along the way.
If all goes to plan, we're going to be able to text updates to a livejournal so you'll be able to follow our progress when we're in the 55% of the network which is above ground.
So yes, please
donate to the charity, and make a few geeks feel like their efforts are even more worthwhile.
Any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. But the answer to the question "why?" is a simple one. Why not? It should be fun, and it's for charity.
