how would you like it - Jem
Put on your clothes, I know what’s underneath
You think you’re separate from everyone, but it’s just from your Self
Without all the colors in the world, there’d be no picture
We are interwoven more than you’ll ever know
So I say
Please stop talking to me I don’t agree
How would you like it
Just 'cause the color of my skin’s the same no you don’t know me
How would you like it
Please stop, stop right there with your hypocrisy
Don’t wanna hear it
You don’t realize if you take away any one of us
We all fall down now
I wanted to write this a long time ago
But I thought someone would say who are you to speak of this
Well I’ve got eyes and ears and a heart and I can feel it
And it pains me more than you will ever know
And I say
Please stop talking to me I don’t agree
How would you like it
Just ‘cause the color of my skin’s the same well you don’t know me
How would you like it
Please stop, stop right there with your hypocrisy
Don’t wanna hear it
You don’t realize if you take away any one of us
We all fall down now
So sad, so sad
It’s said we wouldn’t know love without hate
I’d really rather just have the love
I’m tired of our history repeating enough is enough
Enough is enough
Please stop talking
Please stop talking to me I don’t agree
How would you like it
Just ‘cause the color of my skin’s the same well you don’t know me
How would you like it
Oh, shame, shame, shame on you and your profanity
Can’t stand to hear it
Don’t you realize if you take away any one of us
We all fall down now
In the end life’ll go on and on
But I for one am clear we’re all brothers and sisters
