Wow. So sad. I really could see Chloe reacting this way. And I like how you shoed how she saw her with Davis, that he just reminded her too much of Clark. This was really well, done. I really flet Chloe's pain. It's intersting for Chloe to live and work on the farm, it's osmething she usually wouldn't do but it makes sense for her to wrap hersel insomething that was so far oof from the person she used to be before Clark died. You should continue this. It would be great to see how she copes with Davis being there and maybe se her reaction when/if Clark comes back a live.

Thanks. The farm thing just came to me and I feel that Chloe could fold in on herself with everything else taken from her from the League to the paper to Clark to ISIS. I can see her just devoting her time and putting her efforts into putting her feelings aside to take care of Martha.

That make sense, because Chloe is a nurturer.

Maybe its just me but I like the angsty Chloe/Davis stuff. Its what I wanted in the show a real honest to god whole box of tissues angstfest but never got. Reading angsty fic where things don't quite end up all happy happy joy joy but just a little more realistic and less lightswitchy then DOOMSDAY did it...ok I'm rambling I'll stop. I liked you're story. I liked how Chloe couldn't get past...much of anything really. Very nice.

Thanks, trying to happy-happy joy-joy everything with St. Henry (formerly Jimmy) pissed us ALL OFF. I think that something as big as DOOMSDAY and Clark's death and Davis's and Chloe's own complex dilemmas couldn't be resolved and wouldn't come out with even as bland and trite an ending as Failsday did.

Thanks for comments!

Very nice, you managed to fit everything into this one fic, making it an excellent oneshot. You mentioned every possibility, Kara, J'onn, the fortress, everything. Chloe is acting the way she should have in Doomsday, and Clark is really dead. This would have been a nice way to end Smallville, but the writers are just brain-dead. You did an awesome job, and even if you don't continue this, it's great as is.

Leaving short comment first. longer comment later.
how much do I love Chloe calling Jimmy on his bullshit and not sitting pretty while Clark was out there probably getting killed? Alot. In the fail, made no sense at all. it's Chloe.
I love how proactive you write her. It's CHLOE!
The entire bit about the girder, her death, Clark's death. Amazingly done and very evocative and epic like Failsday should have been.

Despite the ship preferences, I really do get where you're coming from here, with your slant on the Clarkoom. "He's gone, Chloe." because Davis would say that, and Chloe wouldn't want to handle that. Also, Chloe not wanting to use Davis as a replacement. I can respect that.

yeah and I caught the hints of Chlois(the lease! Lois making noise!). Well done.

Oh that's cool.

I liked a more proactive, angry Chloe, not one who's just gonna be swept off to safety with St. Henry.

Yeah, the Chlark won out but I think it's important to establish that Chloe cares about Davis and his life but that she doesn't want to use someone.

I like this idea of Chloe not will to sit on the sidelines and also her less than trusting nature is a good counterbalance to Clark's insta-trust when he really didn't have a good reason to after the whole shooting him it the back thing.

Between Clark's seemingly permanent death and Chloe's souvenir from her road trip, there is a lot of pain and conflicted feelings. Leaves an ache in my chest and some churn in my guts. Nicely done.
