Dammit

I am definitely ill :(

Was meant to be meeting Andy today but I really just don't feel up to doing ANYTHING much at the moment. Eating, sleeping, reading, nothing. Bah.

I managed to get enough tepid water out of the boiler to have a bath, and I found someone who will be here between 2pm and 4pm.

I am going to lie down again now.

Many apologies for bothering you in your journal!

You recently responded to a poll I did about wallets and money and said you wouldn't mind if I came back to you with any further questions.

If you could please answer the following questions, I'd be most appreciative.

We believe that 'cashless cards' (similar to debit cards, but where you top it up with credit in advance rather than having the link to your bank account) or something similar are going to become more commonplace (they are already in circulation in some universities and major corporations) as people choose not to carry cash (approximately 50% of people we surveyed remove small change from their wallets).

1) How would you feel about using such a thing in daily life (assuming it would be accepted anywhere you could use cash)?

2) You told us that you tend to dump your coppers and 5ps into charity pots - if you were using a cashless card instead of having loose change on you, how do you think this would affect these opportunistic charity donations? Would you be likely to stop donating all together (please be honest, no one's judging anyone!) or would you find/want another way to donate?

(if you'd rather not reply as a comment, please feel free to e-mail me at faerieenigma *at* gmail.com)

Thank you very much,
Eri

Hello! No problem.

Cashless cards - I doubt I would use it because of the hassle of having to top it up, and the worry that I might run out of credit. I can't see why I would use this over my debit card, which I use nearly all the time anyway. I generally only carry cash if I specifically know I will need it e.g. going to the pub.

Charity donations - well the opportunistic donations would dry up because I wouldn't have the spare change! But I probably wouldn't change anything as a result, the coppers are a relatively small amount of money and I already have regular donations set up to the charities I care about.
