We had Giles' IEP meeting this morning. The bus was running late so Giles was picked up 4 minutes before we were supposed to be meeting the teacher so needless to say we were late. She said she was about to call us because we're usually early to these things but luckily she was understanding about the bus thing. There was no way we were going to disrupt Giles schedule by taking him to school because it would have made the whole day a lot more stressful for him.
Anyway, it went well. Although what we went over will probably have to be ammended next fall once he gets into the Applied Academic course, we set up primary goals for him to be adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers, be able to answer questions about what he's read since his comprehension is lower then his actual ability to read, communicate his needs and frustrations more often to avoid melt-downs and work on using adjectives in his speech. Overall both his teacher and speech-therapist were very happy with his progress this year and seemed very optimistic for the future.
After we were done and I'd spent a few minutes spying on Giles in his classroom (he was helping with the calendar duties and was so eager), Dale and I went and bought our mothers their Mother's Day gifts. I'd actually already gotten my mom some Yankee candles, but somehow lost them during the move (I'm guessing they got put in a box that was put in the storage room). So I ended up getting her a vase with tea-light candles that surround it. I also picked up some vanilla candles and plan on getting her some flowers right before I head out there. Most likely I'm making the trek Friday evening so I can catch up with my brother when he heads out since my SIL is driving up to Idaho to see her mother over the weekend. Of course that's dependant on my being able to drive since the lilacs are everywhere and my allergy to them means I'm weaving from dizziness and kind of out of it right now.
Anyway, that's my exciting life right now. I really don't have much to say although I guess I should wish a Happy Birthday to Lance since we all know he reads my journal . . . when he needs to fall asleep fast maybe.
