Could this be it?

I think (not sure) I may have actually found a faucet I can live with.

SIGMA Single Hole Pillar Kitchen Faucet with Side spray

This faucet is so new, until recently the SIGMA website didn't even have a photo - just the specs. (Haven't I been saying they had not yet designed the faucet I needed?) I'm not certain of the price, but I know it's not cheap, even with my discount. Have to call my plumbing rep tomorrow and see.

Is it "trying too hard" by my standards?  A little. But here's why I think I can live with it ...

1) It is fairly sleek with few added baubles like some of the reproduction-look faucets. It is not trying to be "Victorian" which is the wrong era for this house, anyway ...

2.) The side spray actually goes with the faucet. I can't tell you how many faucets come with side sprays that look like they were designed for a different faucet, or have a different finish. (Even some of the ones I considered ...)

3. The base and handle are fairly slender, and not too stumpy  ...

4. The spout reach is a full 12", without it being completely horizontal ...

In fact, I like the graceful upturn of the SIGMA spout - I think they did a good job of making it neither gooseneck nor "water pump"

5.) It has one control. (This is ONLY thing that DH asked for in the whole kitchen, and even though he recently thought he could live with two, using the temporary faucet has proven otherwise.) Also, the single control actually adds a little interest to this faucet without saying "look at me!"

6.) The SIGMA control also adds a bit of height (which the sink demands) without the bulk of a massive gooseneck, which my small sink wall cannot carry  ...

Mostly owing to all the things is is NOT, I believe we have a winner!

Now to find a soap dispenser and a filtered water tap that go with this thing.

By the way, I want to thank everyone who voted in my faucet poll. The practical-minded among you made me understand why my husband so dearly wants the single control, and the design-experienced (most of whom came over from ask_a_designer) convinced me I couldn't settle for a faucet that might look great on a stainless steel undermount sink. So thanks!

I really hope this one works.
