Weather and the best laid plans….
Hello my mighty Friends
I have arrived in San Francisco, all be it with much ado. My plane was 6 hours late. We were an hour late leaving Heathrow, then we circled around Minneapolis until we ran out of fuel, had to land at Delaware to get more. Once we arrived at the twin Cities, the flights were all delayed due to the thunderstorms, finally got on a flight at 10:30 only to be stuck on the ground a further hour to wait for baggage! Of course arriving at SFO 2am has it’s own problems no BART no Shuttles, Taxi is the only way into town, Luckily I shared a Taxi with someone who had been on this disaster flight form Heathrow, so we shared the cost. Only to discover that my hostel, who said there would be someone to check me in when I called from Minneapolis from the phone of a very kind couple, did not have anyone answering the phone, fair enough I was an hour later than I said I’d be. Luck would have that security is not their big thing so I managed to get in to the hostel, have a shower, and set myself a cubby I the hallway ( I couldn’t find the common room or the kitchen). I had a few good hours sleep, as occupants of the hotel came out for nocturnal ablutions; one nice man gave me a comforter from his room which really saved the day as it is COLD in San Fran in the morning.
So overall I’m awake ready to start the day in San Fran, however I do need internet to contact Wiggs and to find me a place to stay tonight. Security is too lax here I feel that I would get robbed blind, but maybe it is just too much effort. I also need to address breakfast…. Only an hour and a half until the desk opens and I can sort something out , see what the new day brings.
