The first thing I need to say is never get the vegetarian pizza from Roundtable Pizza at the Oakland airport. I spent all of yesterday sick as a dog and still don't feel well today. Well at least it happened at the end of the weekend instead of the beginning of the weekend.
This situation between Israel and Palestine is echoing in my home still. Mom and I keep fighting over what's happening, and what's happened. I do understand why Israel was founded, (which is always her first argument) I lost family during the Holocaust, I'm proud of my Jewish heritage, and I want to raise my children the way I was raised, with knowledge of my heritage but not forcing them to be religious. But I also can see the Palestinian side of the coin. Their homeland was ripped from them and they were made refugees. Have you ever seen the conditions they live in? It's squalor. I don't agree with the concept of the intifada, but I understand why people feel the need to do something. Part of me thinks that what Israel has done to the Palestinians is as bad as what the Americans did to the Japanese-Americans during WWII, or what the Japanese did to the Koreans... the list of oppressions goes on and on.
I read an article about the Palestinian girl who blew herself up at the supermarket in Jerusalem today. It made me cry because here was the knowledge that babies are killing babies and that the parents are hurting and the families are hurting and yet no one can do anything to stop it.
