I don't know how I constantly screw up the comment process and lose my words, but I do.

I enjoyed reading this though I normally wouldn't look for a story with a Slytherin lead. (That's just not my interest.) I read this series to read about Michael Corner, and I have enjoyed it. This section was particularly good. The dialog seemed real and the characters believable. I liked the scenes after Dumbledore's death very much, especially Slughorn's grief and Asteria's ability to take charge.

Thank you! I'm really glad you gave this a shot (and I'm almost done with it, whoo!) even if you don't normally read stories with a Slytherin lead. I adore Michael Corner (wasn't sure if it was obvious), and I really love writing him. And I like imagining a Slytherin could choose the good side, even if JKR thought otherwise.

I appreciate the comment :-D

I made my comment about Slytherins not because I have anything against them or think they are evil, but because I wanted to say that I thought this was a very successful piece that appealed me a reader who wouldn't normally follow the story. I think that is a sign of good writing.

Oh yeah . . . I understand :-D It bugged me in DH that JKR basically had only two Slytherins fighting with Harry, and they were both teachers. I would have loved to have seen a Slytherin student, who was very clearly Slytherin, choose to support Harry. For whatever reason. Alas, I must turn to fanfiction to explore that.

Aw. Thank you too. I'm glad you think the writing's good. I hope I can claim the pairing again for a sequel, but I'm going to write that in the past tense (I need a break from the present ;-D)

Gorgeous, Suzanne. This seems to capture a more real sense of school and school-aged children than even the same scene in your wonderful DG6YFH. I like these characters, too. Maybe they're not as large personalities as the ones in your Hell-Verse, but they're certainly sympathetic, and very, very real.

*claps* Thanks so much, Christopher. As soon as I have the last ficlet of this posted, I'm so starting on a smaller-scale version of the 7th year (with Daphne and Astoria . . . whoo-hoo!) and I might do a little more exploring of the Ravenclaws than I was able to do here. Plus, I'm writing the dang thing in past tense. Change things up, y'know ;-D

You are a dear. Thank you.

Thank you! I'm almost done . . . but man the last one's giving me a bit of a headache to start it.

Nice way to leave on a cliff hanger. I liked Daphne’s reasoning for why she’s a slytherin. I always felt that their house got the raw end of the deal in the books.

Thank you! I so agree with you about Slytherins getting a bad deal in the books. I just wanted to see one Slytherin student actually fight with Harry and his gang.

I really appreciate the comment! Thank you :-D

THANK YOU for following the true, classic definition of what it means to be a Slytherin. You have no idea how happy that makes me. Slytherins are supposed to be pretty darn smart, though maybe not as intellectual as Ravenclaws. Anyway. I liked this. :) Excited to see how it all ends!

Thanks! I agree with you. I think (Crabbe and Goyle excepted) that Slytherins are supposed to be smart . . . intelligent in maybe less a bookish sense than Ravenclaws, but more crafty, cunning, and more ruthless in demeanor. But there was nothing in the Sorting Hat's song about them hating Muggle-borns. It's been a prejudice from other houses over time, strengthened by the fact that freakin' Voldie was in their house. I've always sort of been intrigued by the idea of what a Slytherin who didn't believe in that, but did exhibit those other qualities might look like. I do hope my version of Daphne sort of encapsulated that.

Thank you so much for the comment.
