Part I Relay for Life 5:50 - Noon
April 22nd, 2006

First things, first the Relay. I woke up at 5:50, looked outside and thought it would rain. I asked Bonnie for a favor. I wanted her to check the weather, so if it was going to rain, I could go back to bed. She didn’t reply, so I got up and got dressed.

I pulled on Beige Dickies, a pink top, a pink sweater, and shoved a blue windbreaker in my bag. I got there, and I planned on helping in registration, there I met Gwen and Judy. Pretty soon, registration got boring so I helped out in the survivor’s tent and met Anne. I also met Jay and John, and played with Dolly, a companion animal. I had coffee, because that was the only thing I wanted for breakfast.

Anne and I talked and I told her I had a tumor in my lip when I was two, and then the ceremony started. This Relay for Life was kind of in memoriam of our fire chief, Phil Armertrout. This girl sang “Wind beneath my wings,” And had to stop a lot because the song was so powerful.

Then they read all the survivor’s names and I walked up with Judy. Apprently, they called my name too, even though I asked them not to. X.x Then I spent time with Alex Thompson and this other kid, who’s name I can’t remember right now. The other kid was very shy, but Alex and I hit it off right away.

Then, I had the survivor’s lunch, Mexican rice and tortillas. Yum. Then I went back on hung out with Alex and the other kid. Alex’s Mom was a survivor. We ran a booth where you used a cork gun to shoot down causes of cancer. No one played it until like five minutes before noon when the other kid had to leave.
